CopyCatX 3.0 Creates Disk Images From Damaged Media, More

by , 12:00 AM EST, December 22nd, 2005

SubRosaSoft has released version 3.0 of its drive duplication software CopyCatX. The upgrade uses fault tolerant algorithms that enable it to create disk images even when media is damaged, such as scratched CDs or damaged hard drives.

Other changes include performance improvements and the ability to back up to drives that aren't as large as the original, since the backup process now copies only the space used. SubRosaSoft pointed to the latter as a handy option for IT administrators who need to have sets of drive images available for drive restorations.

Users of CopyCatX version 1.0 or higher can upgrade for free. The full version is US$89.95 on CD or $79.95 as a download. Mac OS X v10.3 is required.
