Mike Galanos
Mike Galanos is a news anchor for CNN Headline News and co-hosts the network's Prime News Tonight with Erica Hill. Based in CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta, Galanos joined the network in May 2002.
During his tenure with CNN Headline News, Galanos has anchored the network's Sept. 11 memorial anniversary coverage, 2002 mid-term election coverage and military updates.
Previously, Galanos anchored for CNN/Sports Illustrated. In 1997, Galanos hosted CNN's seasonal programs, Baseball 97 and College Football Preview. Additionally, he reported for the network on its Super Bowl, MLB World Series, Daytona 500 and Men's NCAA Final Four coverage. Galanos started his career at CNN in April 1988 as a video journalist, CNN's entry-level position. Among other duties, he ran the teleprompter and studio camera for Headline News Anchors Don Harrison and Bobbie Batista. He moved into the sports department as an editor one year later. In 1991, he left CNN for his first on-air position in Reno, Nev. Galanos returned to CNN as a sports anchor in June 1994.
Galanos graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in broadcast communication arts from San Francisco State University.
