Vax | Astrata | Brilliant, what more can you ask for at this price. Loads of attachments, all neatly stores. Powerful 1800W motor, faultless.

Vax | Astrata | great vacuum cleaner, is a lot better than a dyson. Just got from argos in sale at £39.99 . Well worth the money.

|
MIELE | CAT AND DOG-TT | We were going to buy an upright, but were convinced that this would be a good one. Easy to use; lightweight; long extension so you don`t get backache and you only have the weight of the head to push around not the whole cleaner. Very good on stairs, and at the top of a step ladder to clean our very high ceiling! Very neat to put away in a small cupboard. Highly recommended.
| | Rachel | 30/12/2005 15:42:27 |
|
DYSON | DC05 Silver/Red | Brilliant. Would be lost without it!!!
| | Lisa | 14/11/2005 13:43:01 |

NUMATIC | Henry Extra | Henry extra is the best cylinder vacuumn you can buy,the turbo brush is smooth and fast.It has very large bag, high quailty vac!!
| | vacman | 14/11/2005 13:42:32 |
|
SANYO | SCX90 | This is the best vacuum cleaner we have owned, the canister is easily removable and empties with the press of a button and the filters are easy to clean. We are pleased we did not purchase a Dyson as thee Sanyo i am sure does the same job - effectively clean your carpets.
| | pleased purchaser | 21/09/2005 21:58:25 |
|
DELONGHI | Aqualand | The water doesn`t smell bad if you empty the unit after each use - this isn`t a normal vacuum cleaner that you can leave in the cupboard with dust in it.
Empty the unit each time, and this product is a revelation. You will be pleasantly suprised by the amount of dust you can pickup - especially when you remember that a normal vacuum would have pumped a lot of this back into your room.

PANASONIC | MCE480 | I have a small cleaning business and have purchased these vacuums for 25 years for cleaning Show Homes. They are light weight and easy changing bags etc. Parts are freely available i.e new filters etc. Tried Dyson but very heavy for my Ladies to carry.Over the years the cost has actually gone down, I see from this site now down to £50.00 thats got to be a first!I also use HENRY vacuums which are equally as good for flat flooring.
| | Binga | 12/06/2005 08:12:02 |
|
NUMATIC | HENRY | I have a small cleaning business and have purchased Henry hoovers for years, I can honestly say I have never had one go wrong in the twenty-five years, not good on carpets but brilliant on floors or carpet tiles. thoroughly recommend.
| | Binga | 12/06/2005 08:12:01 |
|
Proaction | Bagged Upright Cleaner | This is a cheap upright vacuum put it is very high proformance bad mine 2 months now and I is a very good cleaner with more features than a dyson like the varible power control is very handy. Dirtdevil dd6006 bags fit this so it dosnt matter if argos stop doing the bags. Mine has a dirtdevil bag in it at the minute and the suction is good.

|
HOOVER | T5702 RED | My hoover Telios T5702 is the best vacuum cleaner i have ever had. It looks a big cleaner but it is very lightweight and is only about 5-6kg. The suction is very good it grabs to the floor as soon as you press the button. Even thow it is a bagged vacuum not bagless it seems to have more suction than dyson cleaners i have owned in the past years, It is a dyson equivalent by far and i no for a fact that it has more suction than a Dyson dc05. The price of the cleaner is very fair i got mine in the sales for £50.00 The prices are from £50.00 to £70.00. The bag is a very big size for a cylinder vac and the the bag status bar is very very accurate. The Best cleaner in the world.

MORPHY RICHARDS | Pod | I do not own a pod but my grandmother does. It is a super bit of kit. It is very unbelivably lightweight. It has a 1300 watt motor with loads of suction. It is also easy to empty.

VAX | VS30 | An excellent cleaner for all hard floors.Does what it says, washes and dries.
| | josmum | 02/12/2004 13:38:46 |
|
VAX | VS-18 | Light but solid. Hugely effective, even on pet hair - far better performance on carpet than any other cleaner we"ve owned, and good on laminate and vinyl flooring as well. Very easy to empty, large dust capacity, no suction loss as bin fills up. Could do with a stretchier extension hose, but that"s the only even slightly negative point. Buy this - it"s ludicrously good value compared to the main cyclone brand, and outperforms the one we had!
| | Anon | 05/11/2004 10:32:41 |
|
VAX | VS21 BUBBLE | Excellent all-round lightweight cleaner. Good pickup, including cat & human hair (!), very manouverable, good dust capacity, and it"s bagless. What more could you ask?
| | Mike | 05/11/2004 10:32:40 |
|
MIELE | CAT AND DOG-TT | we bought this as it was recommended by WHICH consumer magazine. until reading thier review we would have bought a DYSON. luckily we didn"t and saved £200 and this ones excellent.

LG | Cyking Bagless Cylinder Cleaner | This must be the most efficient and cost effective product I have purchased. Light, easy to use by finger tip electronic controls on the handle and well kitted out with accessories, this bagless wonder is a delight to use. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I always buy LG products and have never been disappointed.

ELECTROLUX | Z5740 Glider | I bought this model about 6 weeks ago after having owned a Dyson for approx 5 years. In my opinion it is superior to the Dyson. It is light and easy to use.

VAX | VS21 BUBBLE | This product is lightweight and a boon for anyone who needs an easy to use vacuum. For use by a disabled person it ticks the boxes. It picks up better than other well known vacuums I have struggled with in the past.

|
MORPHY RICHARDS | 73310 | I have just bought this vacuum cleaner and am very impressed. I have just had new carpets fitted and it sucked up all the loose bits no problem. It also has an adjustment for the height of the carpet pile which really makes a difference picking up. Really strong suction (I nearly lost my bath mat) and very light. I would recommend

ELECTROLUX | R Z5305 (Blue) | The power and performance are very good and it is easy to empty and is at a very good price for an Elecrtolux. Highly recommend it.

HOOVER | U3480 | This is a very reliable cleaner but there is 1 problem it is very loud.

BOSCH | BSG1500GB (Ferrai Red) | I have owned this vacuum cleaner for 3 months and am I'm impressed.
Yes the power and performance is great it is suitable for people with bungalows the cord reaches perfectly through my home and never leaves a spot of dust. The bags are very easy to buy and are at a good price.
| | | 03/08/2003 07:18:05 |
|
PANASONIC | MCB250 | This is the best min-vac that I have ever tried. It may look like a toy but if picks up fluff and animal hair that are left behind by my Dyson.
| | Caroline | 29/07/2003 16:09:24 |
|
PANASONIC | MCB250 | Super machine
| | John Brown | 29/07/2003 16:09:04 |
|
DYSON | DC07 ANIMAL | Ignore what the others say this vac is simply the best ever. Great sucking Power and a fine selection of usefull attachments.
You can vac a whole flight of stairs with the long flexible extension arm with the Vacuum cleaner standing at the bottom, now thats useful.
If you have a dog or cats then this is the vacuum for you .
Both myself and my wife have used this machine plenty of times and it is NOT that heavy to push around and isn't that noisy.
Only time we have found it hard to push is on rugs but on carpets it glides across.
Nice and colourful too well done Dyson well worth the extra cash. My carpets are so clean and look as good as new.

SAMSUNG | VC8930 | I was so impressed with my Samsung 8930, that I mentioned my puchase to my Mum. The next day I visited her along with my Samsung, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the machine (Mum had vacuumed only 2 days prior to my visit). She was so impressed (that was after three sweeps of the brush) that she said she had to have one. Within just a few days her Samsung had arrived. I received a phone call from her to say that she could not believe the amount of dirt she had picked up. The funny thing is that she has stored the findings from her carpets in a plastic bag for me to peruse when I next visit!!
I'm sure I speak for both Mum as well, but this machine is the best thing since sliced bread. Well done Samsung - keep up the good work.
| | Trudy | 03/04/2003 17:26:38 |
|
Maytag | U5750 | This machine does everything that a Dyson does and better. Bit heavier than normal vacuums but quality is 100% guaranteed. Self propelling feature means that it moves itself for effortless cleaning.
Would highly recommend. Better than a Dyson and much cheaper!
| | SJS | 24/02/2003 08:42:02 |
|
DYSON | DC05 MOTORHEAD | Supprising how much dirt it picked up from carpets, and did not scratch my wood floors! EXCELLENT
| | A happy customer | 12/02/2003 19:05:34 |
|
VAX | AVC-1 PURPLE | This machine is a real smoothy - with high suction for a 1300 watt motor and its weight. Cleans beyond its edges with clever brush bender. Wonderful grab wand and cord rewind (unusual in uprights).
The machine functions well and is an ergonomic joy - a great deal of thought has gone into its design, down to the last detail. Perhaps larger wheels on rear and on the cleaning head would have helped. I think it's beautiful and if you can get one at a price less than the Bosch (improved version) - grab one.
| | Alan | 12/02/2003 10:51:28 |
|
DYSON | DC07 (Silver/Yellow) | Absolutely the best suction cleaner I have ever bought, the power of the suction is unbeatable at the price.
| | | 07/02/2003 08:46:57 |
|
ELECTROLUX | Z410 | Grooms carpets very well for such a small unit, also great on hard floors since you can turn the brush roll off.

NUMATIC | NB200 | Have used my Basil nearly everyday for the last 3 yrs. Still picking up lovely.

|
ELECTROLUX | Boss Z402 | The Z402 is powerful, light weight and is very easy to store. At just £49.99 why waste £250 on a Dyson?
| | A very pleased customer!! | 24/11/2002 12:18:43 |
|
HOOVER | W2700 | I find the suction on this hoover is surprisingly good. It is simple and easy to use and requires little maintenance, especially as it has no bag!!
| | Ren Maxell | 11/11/2002 22:13:13 |
|
GOBLIN | Compact Cleaner | Cute little lightweight cleaner which, to be honest, is a snip at this price (I paid under £30). So easy to carry about it feels like my best friend! Having problems finding spare bags though.
| | Cheryl-Anne Jenkinson | 06/10/2002 08:20:47 |
|
MORPHY RICHARDS | 70041 | Excellent suction. Power of suction could be controlled with variable control dial. Handle extends to longer than expected so did not have to bend down as much as with previous cleaners. Small brush tool and smaller handle tool excellent for cleaning stairs.
Very pleased with it! as you can probably tell. Worth the extra £15 - £20 over standard cylinder plus 3 year cover on it.
| | Ceri | 28/09/2002 17:26:50 |

DYSON | DC04 (Silver/Yellow) | Top product...especially for long haired dogs!! Excellent customer service from Dyson.

NUMATIC | HENRY | After throwing two Dyson cleaners in the skip, I took the advice of my carpet fitter and bought Henry.
Excellent.

HOOVER | V3111 | Excellent Suction Power and Twin Hepa Filters are good.
| | Me | 24/07/2002 21:35:52 |
|
SAMSUNG | VCU313 PURPLE | A brilliant light-weight little hoover with all the spare attachments you need.
Only problem is finding dustbags, I've had no luck so far so have only been able to hoover up 4.5litres so far but this vacuum cleaner really is a joy to use.
| | Ana Rey | 09/05/2002 10:47:01 |
|
MORPHY RICHARDS | 70095 | Only just bought this - attracted by not having to use disposable bags & filters - seems really good & powerful - easy to use (adjustable length ) well designed chrome tube and plenty of tools all on board - variable speed - so far I'm pleased with it. (Smart colour too!)
| | Morag | 03/05/2002 12:21:37 |
|
LG | VC-7770CER | So far so good. Bought from Currys for £79 (I think it was being phased out) to replace a burnt out Dyson. More powerful than an upright basic Dyson and certainly better value for money than the equivalent Dyson cylinder (approx £199). Small dust chamber - but not dissimilar to equivalent Dyson. Looks good. Usual tools as well as two heads and a strange elbow to help vacuum under chairs without bending. Hand controls very convenient. Hi tech display.
| | Adrian Hobson | 26/01/2006 09:36:15 |
|
JCB | DD202JCB | We purchased on of these after our £300 Dyson broke for the 10th time.(Piece of trash) We have been VERY pleased with the product, although it does take up quite alot of room. Bags can be hard to source, although they can usually be found on the net. Compared to the over inflated prices of the Dyson a GREAT product for little money.
| | Dyson hater | 06/01/2006 12:22:03 |
|
Vax | Astrata | Powerfull 1800 watt motor. Looks great and peolple always say `what`s that`! Everything folds away neatly. Lots of attachments with it. Dust container is very easy to empty. Usual Vax build quality. Cheaper than a Dyson and looks better!
| | Jan Jeffries | 29/11/2005 07:44:32 |
|
POLTI | AS300 | Does exactly what it says on the box. Very powerful for such a small machine, easy to navigate around and under furniture. Cord could do with being a bit longer but that is my only gripe.
| | Christopher | 22/10/2005 13:54:27 |
|
DAEWOO | RC320F | i find this machine to be great but unfortunately the bags that come with it seem to split if they get too full. The bag full indicator doesn`t work so I suppose that the bags just get over full. Apart from this it is a great machine that cleans really well
| | Fiona | 13/09/2005 08:34:33 |
|
Electrolux | ZCE2000 | Cleaner is lovely - as good as all the other Electrolux cleaners I have had over the years but one minor irritant...I DO NOT like the nozzle....Electroluxwere trying to be clever with their new design of this part and sadly it lets the cleaner down. Fortunately I have 2 other Electrolux models in the house and the nozzles are interchangeable!
| | ChezzaD | 05/05/2005 09:35:26 |
|
LG | VCA241NT | Amazing suction for size but irritating clip on attachments that keep falling off.
Two filters are needed as although manufacturer states filter should be washed after 5 uses, has to be done after every use and takes a day to dry. Shall be much happier when I can locate another filter
| | Irene | 05/04/2005 21:09:04 |
|
LG | VCA241NT | It"s amazing value for money: small, light weight and has more suction that some Dysons.
ALL filters are washable, it DOES have a telescopic tube.
Dyson / Vax suction powered brush heads fit on tube.
Only down sides are:
On board tools - are stuck on a bracket on the tube. The first thing I removed.
There are flaps in the dust collection tub that are a bit annoying.

DAEWOO | RC105 | Owned about 4 years, powerful lightweight cleaner, handy on off / power control on hose. Recommended.

DAEWOO | RC320FPR | Good value and works well, having trouble finding bags, Daewoo is not a popular manufacturer
| | R Campbell | 11/09/2004 12:50:30 |
|
DIRT DEVIL | DD2415 (Blue/Red) | We bought the Dirt Devil DD 2415 about 6 months ago from Argos (22.50 Pound). It"s a small, handy machine which is just right for a small house or flat. It works fine, seems quite powerful for such a small motor. However, the dust-bags are relatively small as well which means they fill up faster than the ones you have in large vacuum cleaners. Yet, for the price it seems excellent value.
| | E. P. | 20/08/2004 17:12:09 |
|
DYSON | DC07 (Silver/Yellow) | The brush-bar internal design needs a rethink! The bearing packs cannot handle the stress. The 2nd time in 2yrs, a bit much for domestic use only?

|
Hitachi | CV790 | We bought our little Hitachi in 1996. It is the 1100W model.
I have been delighted with the performance. It is well made and has excellent suction.
The only thing that I don't like about the CV790 is the permanent dust bag. It is a bonus not to have to buy paper bags, but cleaning the cloth bag is a dirty affair. The best method seems to be to brush the dust off in a bucket of water; otherwise one is covered in a cloud of muck.
I repaired vacuum cleaners for a living for seven years and can certainly recommend the Hitachi CV790 as a well made, reliable machine. They are now discontinued, but parts are still available from Charles Hyde.
If you see one for a good price in a second hand shop it may be a good buy. However, do be aware that the cloth dust bag needs to be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis in order to maintain good suction and prolong motor life.

|
VAX | AVC1 (Silver/Black) | Possibly the most ergonomic cleaner ever made. Works well and inspires confidence in relation to build quality. Slightly difficult to manouvre since tiny rollers at the front are insufficient on uneven floors and thick carpeting.
I find it beautiful, reasonably quiet and the easy grip wand and cord rewind are quite unique. Hose and lead could be slightly longer.
Overall, highly recommended although new Bosch version looks like an improvement.

SANYO | SCX500 | Just bought it, to replace ailing Dyson. Very good in comparison - no trouble with our dog hairy carpet: powerful suction.

DYSON | DC07 ANIMAL | My belt is slipping and has burn through the plastic at the side. Now I have to use it with the brushes switched off. it is just over 2 years old. not very impressed, and yes it is noisy and hard to push, even with the brushes off!
| | lorraine | 18/12/2005 16:14:49 |
|
DELONGHI | Aqualand | Concept is brilliant design is poor. Alot of work to empty each time, is not easy to manouver but the amount of dust and stuff it collects is amazing, good for the big clean ups but to pick up some bits that are astray, not worth the bother.

LG | VCB574STS | IT IS HAS PRETTY GOOD SUCTION ON SMOOTH SURFACE FLOORS BUT I WOULDN`T BUY ONE TO USE ON CARPET. FINDING REPLACEMENT BAGS & FILTERS ARE A NIGHTMARE! SO FAR I HAVE HAD TO KEEP EMPTYING THE ORIGINAL BAG I HAD WITH THE CLEANER. THE BAG FULL LIGHT ISN`T VERY APPARENT EITHER SO THE FIRST BAG BURST.

PANASONIC | MCE7103 | Just got one, seems to have what you need for a small apartment. A bit on the loud side, and the feeling is a bit blocky but hey ... what did you expect at that price?

ELECTROLUX | 3105 BOSS | This is a very light little vacuum cleaner. Probably because it"s mainly made out of plastic, which doesn"t give it a feeling of durability. It does a good job, but is mainly suitable for small households (and small houses) without carpets all over the place, because the little bag inside fills up fairly quickly, so you"ll be out purchasing more bags more often than you"d like to.
