After passing of the puzzle solving competiton the last year's record in the number of all festival participants was surpassed. 3873 starts of players from 50 countries were registered. Detailed this year's statistics of CZECH OPEN.
The winner of open rating tournament Infinity open is IM Igor Smirnov from the Ukraine.
Open championship of Czech Republic in active chess, which was played also as an Open European amateur championship under 2200 won GM Jiri Stocek from the Czech Republic.
Very strong players participated in the chess superblitz tournament, the final topten had average FIDE Rating 2491!
In Active chess tournament there is a big increase of participants- from the last years 301 participants todays 354 players made another record of festival. Among players from 19 countries is 27 GM, 46 IM and 9 WIM!
On the day of the opening of the festival 14.7. 2005 Mr. Vladimir Novak has died at the age of 84. He was one of the main organizers since the first year of the festival CZECH OPEN. Honour for his commemoration!
