Top Stories The week started with some news from 2K Games. 2K Games announced that Firefly Studios is working on the third installment in the Stronghold series, called Stronghold Legends. Stronghold Legends is a a real time strategy game built on the Stronghold heritage, combining beautifully crafted visuals and well balanced gameplay with the epic legends of the middle ages. Stronghold Legends will feature a new strategic conquest style of play and new multiplayer modes - gamers can play as King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, Count Vlad Dracul or relive the heroic sagas of the mighty Siegfried of Germany in twenty-four missions that span across three unique campaigns. Stronghold Legends is due to ship in fall 2006. You can check out the Press Release and some screenshots here. NCsoft also announced that Auto Assault is available for open beta testing from 6-10pm Thursdays and 9am Saturday through to 9pm Sunday. In this game, players explore a post-apocalyptic future in customizable cars, motorcycles, semis and even tanks. Players battle other players both in arenas and in epic race vs. race wars for control of the regions in a devastated Earth. Auto Assault uses the power of the Havok physics engine to let you make insane jumps, send obstacles flying and even blast bridges, buildings, fences and trees with your car-mounted rockets. Check the Press Release and a link to the beta here. Ubisoft announced Monday that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Lockdown has gone Gold and will hit the stores across the U.S. on February 16, 2006. Compared with the console version, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 4 Lockdown for PC features a multiplayer reward system, improved AI, a new “Free-for-all” game type, a revamped Rivalry Mode, new weapons, and many more. Following Valve Software’s recent announcement that they will be releasing all Half-Life 2 add-ons in Episodes from now on, they Monday released the first information about Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Episode 1 will continue the story from the Half-Life 2 single player adventure. Half-Life 2: Episode 1 promises better AI, enhanced physical gameplay, and more. On Tuesday SouthPeak Interactive announced that State of Emergency 2, developed by DC Studios, is available throughout North America for as little as $29.99. State of Emergency 2 takes place 10 years after the original and has Spanky, Bull and MacNeill again up against the Corporation. This time, they not only have access to guns but also - for the first time - helicopters, speedboats, Tanks and APCs and new team members. State of Emergency 2 adds a full story-based single-player game to the challenge modes and split-screen multiplayer modes. Wednesday Reef Entertainment Limited released some new screenshots from Utopia City, their upcoming sci-fo FPS set in 2091 where a parallel virtual world, based on the real life town of Postville, begins to take on a life of its own and threatens normal life as it really is. Developed by Parallax Art Studios, Utopia City will be available in Q2 2006. Check the original article here. THQ announced that they will be releasing an Xbox 360 demo of The Outfit via Xbox Live on March 3rd. The demo allows up to 8 players to play over Xbox Live or 2 players (1vs1) through the split-screen feature. You can find a list of features along with the original article here. Ubisoft has sent us new Far Cry Instincts Predator screenshots, illustrating how the game takes advantage of Xbox 360’s multi-core next-generation engine. Age of Mourning Back On Track
The development team behind the Age of Mourning let us know that their MMORPG will be released sometime within the next 6 months. The closed beta testing will start sooner, most likely in April. Details can be found in this thread.
Best of the Battlefield Tournament Winne..
Yesterday, February 17, Team Legends emerged as the winner of EA’s Best of the Battlefield, the video game tournament played on Xbox for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. The 10-member team claimed the grand prize of $250,000 - $25,000 for each team member. The massive tournament began in November and featured one of the largest prize purses of any video game tournament in history – more than $300,000. Over 200+ hopeful teams (10 players each) registered and went head-to-head for a spot in the finals.

Interactive Television Networks, Inc. announced the launch of PULSE, the first IPTV music video network. PULSE will offer unlimited video-on-demand access to a commercial free library of more than 30,000 music videos from all the major recording labels, with new videos added weekly. RF Online New Screens/Details
Codemasters sent us new screenshots from RF Online, showcasing all three factions: Accretia, Bellato and Cora (press 'read more' for details about these factions). RF Online is set to launch in late February 2006 and will be published and operated in the U.S. and Europe by Codemasters Online Gaming.
MechAssault: Phantom War Announced
Majesco Entertainment Company announced that Backbone Entertainment is working on MechAssault: Phantom War, the first handheld installment of the popular series scheduled to ship to stores later this year, exclusively for Nintendo DS. Players assume the role of a MechWarrior, an elite fighter trained to control the ultimate war machine of the 32nd century... the BattleMech. Gamers experience fast-action, 3D ‘Mech combat on the top screen, while the lower touch screen positions them inside the cockpit at the controls. Press 'read more' for details.
Fruit Machine Mania Announced
Liquid Games anounced the June 2006 release of Fruit Machine Mania for the PlayStation 2 and PC, a compilation of slot machine-inspired games with the gambling elements removed. The game features six exciting and diverse machines, which the player unlocks in sequence by building up points through gameplay. Check these screenshots and the press release for more details.
PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient UK R..
D3 Publisher of Europe announced that PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient will be released during April 2006 for the Sony PSP, with a MRRP of £24.99. Developed by Nowproduction of Osaka, PQ: Practical Intelligence uses the PSP system's Infrastructure Mode, allowing players to post their PQ score on the worldwide ranking site to see how they rank against other players around the world (press 'read more' for details).
Kuon Release Date
Nobilis announced that Kuon for the PlayStation 2 will be launched in the UK on April 14th, priced £29.99. This is a special edition for Europe with modifications on the puzzle-game for more fun, Dolby Pro Logic 11 sound and a dual language option, which allows you to choose your voice over, allowing for deeper immersion into the Japanese setting time period. Bust-a-Move Deluxe Trailer
The first trailer from Bust-a-Move Deluxe has been released, showcasing the latest chapter in the bubble-popping franchise which will be published by Majesco this spring, exclusively for PSP. Bust-a-Move Deluxe features more than 1,000 game boards, a multiplayer mode, six new Bust-a-Move characters, and four new games including Running Launcher, Mix'Em Up, Double Shot and Time Warp.
FlatOut 2 Release Date/Screens
Releasing these screenshots, Empire Interactive announced that FlatOut 2 for PlayStation2, Xbox and PC will be launched during May. Powered by the enhanced Crash True game engine, FlatOut 2 will offer a interaction between cars and environments, a more advanced scoring system, an improved launch mechanic, 12 all new crazy events, and more. The game also features support for up to eight players online with Xbox Live or PC and 6 players with PlayStation 2 Online all with voice communication. Check the press release for more details.
Marc Eckos Getting Up Ships in Europe
Atari announced that Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, the game developed by The Collective, has shipped to retail stores in Europe for PS2, Xbox, and PC. Set in the city of New Radius, the game offers a world where freedom of expression is suppressed and graffiti has been outlawed by a tyrannical government. You play Trane (voiced by the hip-hop artist Talib Kweli), a graffer who must use his talents in order to expose an oppressive mayor and rid the city of his stranglehold on New Radius.
