CDV today announced that Glory of the Roman Empire has now gone gold with an NA release set for June 26th. Glory of the Roman Empire is an empire-building simulation set during the height of the glorious Roman Empire. The player assumes the roles of city planner, governor and military leader. Ubisoft released a new E3 2006 movie for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, showcasing the fifth iteration of the multimillion-selling Rainbow Six tactical shooter franchise, developed by Ubisoft’s Montreal studio for next-generation and current-generation video game consoles. Thasnk: GameSpot. Rainbow operatives take to the chaotic streets of Las Vegas as an escalating terrorist siege in “Sin City” threatens to take world terrorism to new, uncontrollable heights. 2K Games today released a few screenshots from the PC version of Prey. Prey will include support for Even Balance’s PunkBuster anti-Cheat software, and is expected to be released this year, for PC and Xbox 360. A demo is coming on June 22nd, so until then check the E3 2006 trailer which is locally mirrored here.

Buena Vista Games today released a new trailer and a few screenshots for the PSP version of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, a game scheduled for release in Summer 2006. The game will be released in conjunction with the movie launch. The handheld titles are being developed by Seattle-based Amaze Entertainment and Griptonite Games.

A teaser website for Drakensang: The Dark Eye has been launched, in order to offer official news, exciting community events, screens, artwork and many features about this PC adaptation of Germany’s most popular pen & paper RPG. Slated for release during Q4 2007, Drakensang: The Dark Eye is developed by Radon Labs.

Atari today announced that Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is currently in development for the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. The PSP version comes with a new Wi-Fi two player mode, while the DS version makes use of the stylus and touch screen by incorporating a series of mini-games together with the Wi-Fi mutiplayer mode. Both versions are expected to launch in November.

Groove Games has released new screenshots from WarPath, illustrating the fast-paced Sci-fi FPS featuring a unique single player mode that allows gamers to battle for control of different territories, with each providing distinct strategic advantages. Once players have honed their skills in the single player missions, they can jump online and let the real action begin. The third E3 2006 trailer for The Witcher is now available for download, showcasing this upcoming action-RPG in the works at CD Projekt Red Studio. The Witcher combines the features of such games as Dungeon Siege, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Gothic and Neverwinter Nights. The game is supposed to ensure entertainment to a broad group of older players, incorporating simple yet interesting game system, along with a complex plot and attractive 3D graphics.

Eidos Interactive released a new Urban Chaos: Riot Response trailer, showcasing this first person shooter developed by Rocksteady Studios and scheduled to ship this June in North America, for PS2 and Xbox. Already available in Europe, URBAN CHAOS: Riot Response gives gamers the opportunity to step into the shoes of Nick Mason a member of T-Zero, an elite counter-gang unit, putting his life on the line in response to a terrorist threat. Specially trained in all areas of urban combat and armed with the very latest high-tech weaponry, T-Zero – the last line in urban defense, teams-up with Emergency Services groups including firefighters, paramedics and police to combat multiple threats on the city such as bombings and hostage scenarios. Sierra Entertainment announced that the first content for the first-person shooter F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) is now downloadable on Xbox 360 Live Marketplace. The content includes both a “Theme Pack” and “Gamer Pictures” that allow F.E.A.R. fans to customize their console screen with art from the game. The Theme Park and Gamer Pictures can be previewed on Xbox360.com or on Xbox 360™ Live. F.E.A.R. is scheduled to arrive on the Xbox 360 console soon.

Activision announced that it has joined with Best Buy to recruit players for the Call of Duty 2 for Xbox 360 online gaming tournament, facilitated by the Global Gaming League (GGL). Nintendo announced that Nintendo DS Lite sold more than 136,500 units in just two days after its NA release. Nintendo brains even calculated that New Super Mario Bros. sold at a rate of one each four seconds from its May 15th launch to the end of the month, so independent NPD Group declared it No. 1 best-selling game in May.

Matrix Games today announced the release of Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare, a new multiplayer addition to the distinguished Harpoon modern air and naval strategy series. The game gives you the opportunity to manage some of the most advanced air and naval assets available in the world and puts you in the middle of many historical and ‘what if’ scenarios (including six multiplayer scenarios).
