Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description
Amazon.com gift certificates can be used to purchase almost anything in our store, including most items sold by Marketplace sellers and Amazon Merchants (except The Bombay Company, Circuit City, Eddie Bauer, Newport News, Nordstrom, Spiegel, and Ultimate Outlet Brands). For more information, see the Fine Print above. Sending E-mail Gift Certificates: When sending e-mail gift certificates, please be aware that some e-mail programs may block or even delete e-mail messages which originate from an address not specified by the recipient as an accepted address. All Amazon.com e-mail gift certificates are sent from gc-orders@a2zgiftcerts.amazon.com. If you are concerned that your recipient may have e-mail filters turned on, you may want to send or reissue the gift certificate to your own e-mail address and then forward it to them or print it out to give to them. Redeeming Gift Certificates: When you enter the certificate's claim code for the first time, the certificate is automatically redeemed onto your account, and this information is logged into our database, even if you don't place an order at that time. After you have entered the claim code once, you do not need to enter it again--even if you back up and change other information in the course of placing your order. If you receive an error message that the gift certificate has been redeemed, and the funds are not being applied to your order, it could be that you have more than one Amazon.com account, and that the funds are redeemed to one of your other accounts. Questions about purchasing or using a gift certificate can be sent through our Contact Us form online.

Just send cash...., May 3, 2005

My gift certificate has an invalid claim code apparently. Sent customer service copious details about the purchase (all written right here on my certificate). Response: "We're sorry, there's really nothing we can do. You'll have to contact the original purchaser." Hello? What are they supposed to do? Invent a valid claim code for me? As of this writing still going around and around with customer service. They won't budge from the not-our-problem line. Amazon's failure to take ownership of the problem amounts to theft - in the form of paid for but unredeemable gift certificates.

Better make yourself a photo copy!!, December 22, 2004

Here is a helpful little hint! If you get someone a Amazon gift certificate, and you have a copy of it before you give it to them, make yourself a photo copy.

Last year I purchased a gift certificate from Amazon.com for a Priest I know as a Christmas gift. During the year, he lost it. So I wrote Amazon and asked them if it could be replaced. I figured they knew I ordered it, so them must have the gift certificates number on file some where. All I ever got from Amazon was an automated reply saying there was nothing they could do. Honestly, no one was looking to take advantage or get something they didn't deserve. But no matter how hard I tried, Amazon would not delete the previous gift certificate and issue a new one. It just seems silly to me. I kind of fell that, after years of faithful patronage, Amazon really let me down. Years ago Amazon would have been much better about this, but as they have gotten larger I'm sorry to say the customer service hasn't been quite as good.

So now I'm getting him one again this year, but this time I'm going to keep a copy of it in my records. And if he does misplace it again, I can give him the correct information. Do yourself a favor and do the same! And have a happy holiday!

What a joke. Do not rely on this as a gift, they will not send it., August 21, 2006
Reviewer:G. S. Ryan (Waco, TX) - See all my reviews

I was sent a gift certificate by my soon to be in-laws for my birthday (early August). I received an e-card with a personlized birthday greeting, and a note from Amazon stating that I would be receiving another email the next day that would provide my redemption code. I waited, and then I waited. About a week passed, then I called Amazon to find out where it was. The first answer that I received was, "Dummy, it is probably in your junk mail folder". But, first, it was not, and, second, I buy from Amazon regularly, so I know that I get their messages. Amazon could not confirm that they even sent the email with the confirmation code in the first place!
I was promised one within 24 hours, but it did not come. Now, two weeks after I was supposed to get an email from Amazon, I had to call again. And guess what? I was told that it was probably in my junk mail folder (they still could not confirm whether it had ever been sent!). This time after waiting and waiting on hold, they gave me the code over the phone.
It took over two weeks to get a certificate that should have been automatically generated. And the customer support was laughable. Do not get this as a gift for anyone.

Best gifts ever!, July 17, 2006

I am so busy I frequently forget birthdays until the day of the event. I have bought around 30 or more gift certificates from Amazon and have never had a problem. They are quick, easy and the recipients have so much to choose from. Amazon is my favorite place to shop for gift certificates.

This is GREAT!, July 15, 2006
Reviewer:Happy Gift Giver - See all my reviews
Having out of town family makes sending email gift certificates the easiest way to make everyone happy. My grown children can buy music, DVDs, books, whatever they please and they're thrilled. My grandchildren are just as happy to pick out their own things, not something I THINK they want.
For me, this worked flawlessly and my son was surprised and very happy with his email gift. He said it was "very cool", but picking a few things out of the tons of things he saw and wanted drove him "mad"! I will definitely do this again.
Way to go Amazon!
