  The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology is a museum of the University of Oxford. Founded in 1683, it is one of the oldest public museums in the world. See A Brief History of the Ashmolean for more information View of Museum

Tuesdays to Saturdays: 10am to 5pm
Sundays:
12pm to 5pm
Bank Holidays:
10am to 5pm
Easter openings: 14th & 15th April 10.00 - 5.00; 16th April 12.00 - 5.00; 17th April 10.00 - 5.00.

PLEASE NOTE: The Cast Gallery is now Closed.

   
  Museum Closures:
  • 24th, 25th and 26th December (Christmas)
  • 1st January 2007(New Year's Day)
  • 3rd, 4th and 5th September, 2006 (St. Giles Fair)

    The Western Art Print Room will be closed from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

      Accessibility:

    There is a lift to all floors; a wheel chair is available on application to the staff. There are four steps down to the first floor Antiquities Galleries. Visitors with special needs should contact the Museum in advance of their visit to check that their special needs can be met.

      Photography: Photography is allowed in the galleries, but the use of flash photography, video cameras and camcorders is prohibited.       Museum Café: The Café is on the Lower Ground Floor and is accessible from within the Museum, via the Shop. There is lift access from the Ground Floor.
