On the brink
As sectarian violence rages in Iraq, a high-level report warned President Bush that the United States faces a "grave and deteriorating" situation after three years of war in Iraq. The report also recommended enhanced diplomacy to stabilize Iraq and a start of combat troops' withdrawal.
