JIBBS
"Go Too Far”
(Interscope)
Jibbs had already
created quite a buzz with his debut track, “Chain Hang Low” and now
some programmers are toying with another “King Kong,” but it might be
another track featuring Melody from Pussycat Dolls that could
create a buzz beyond just Rhythm/Crossover radio. The track features the
hot PCD'er incorporating a sampling of Janet Jackson’s
“Let’s Wait Awhile” into a track that has mass-appeal Hip-Hop
written all over it. A song like this can often put an artist on the map
and Jibbs has that song; one that immediately puts him in the FMQB
“Artist To Watch” spotlight.

OMARION
“Ice Box”
(Sony Urban/Epic)
Omarion
has been making quite a bit of noise for some time in the Urban
marketplace, and sometimes the timing on his releases have always put
him just a step behind artists such as Usher and Chris Brown, but not
this time around. Talent has never been the question. In fact, O’s
“Ice Box” could be his breakthrough track at Rhythm/Crossover and
beyond, and this time, the timing couldn’t be better. Sometimes it’s

is the record that will

BEYONCE'
“Irreplaceable”
(Music World/Sony Urban/Columbia)
Since her B’Day CD
debuted at #1 with more that 500,000 sold in its first week sales have
been somewhat quiet, until now! While both "Deja Vu" and
"Ring The Alarm" enjoyed their share of success, it’s the
song “Irreplaceable” that programmers having been pointing too since
advance listens to the CD. While a hidden track on the CD from the
forthcoming motion picture, Dreamgirls, called “Listen”
showcases Beyoncé's outstanding vocal performance; it’s the female
friendly "Irreplaceable" that is the song with the most
multi-format hit potential. BET ON IT!

AKON
“Smack That” f/Eminem and “I Wanna Love
You” f/Snoop Dogg
(Konvict/SRC/Universal Motown)
Is there really any other artist hotter at
the format than Akon? Two singles sitting at #1 and #2 on the chart is
impressive for any artist, but for Akon who is only on his second album,
it’s an extraordinary accomplishment.
