Editor in Chief J. Scott Olmsted is an NRA Life member, former Marine, and lifelong hunter and outdoorsman. He joined the staff of American Hunter in May 1998 as Assistant Editor after stints as a news photographer at various papers in northern Virginia. A native of northern Virginia, he has extensive hunting experience throughout the Lower 48, Alaska, Canada and Africa. His education includes an associate’s degree in fine art from Northern Virginia Community College, a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Missouri, and a master’s in business administration from George Mason University. Some of his favorite topics to write about include big game hunting, rifles, optics, adventure and personal discovery. When he’s not at work you might find him riding his Harley-Davidson Road King Classic, playing the drums or spending time with his 13-year-old son.
