Adam Siegel has been named president of Marc Platt Productions, the company behind Wicked, Variety reports.
In addition to Wicked, Platt produced the recent Broadway production of Richard Greenberg's play Three Days of Rain starring Julia Roberts. He is also co-producing the tour of Matthew Bourne's Edward Scissorhands, an adaptation of the Tim Burton film, which begins its L.A. engagement Dec. 12.
Siegel will oversee the company's theatre, film and television projects. He joined Marc Platt Productions as an intern in 2000.
Platt is based at Universal Pictures, which is a co-producer on Wicked along with The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. Platt teamed with Stone and the Shubert Organization on Three Days of Rain.
In addition to his theatre projects, Platt has produced many films, including "Legally Blonde" and "The Perfect Man." He executive produced "Empire Falls" for HBO and the Kathleen Marshall-directed "Once Upon a Mattress" for ABC.
Siegel and the company are developing many new projects, including the film "Drive," which has Hugh Jackman signed on to star and produce.
With a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, Wicked began previews on Broadway Oct. 8, 2003 and continues to pack the Gershwin Theatre. The L.A. run begins at the Pantages Theatre on Feb. 10, 2007. The musical also runs in Chicago (at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts' Oriental Theatre) and in the West End (Apollo Victoria Theatre), and a separate production is on a national tour.
