British Championships
The 2007 British Chess Championships take place from July 29 to August 11 at Great Yarmouth College, Great Yarmouth. In the absence of grandmasters such as Adams, Short and Speelman, defending champion and top-seed Jonathan Rowson's main rivals (there are 67 players in all) in this 11-round event are (in order of rating) Stuart Conquest, Mark Hebden, Nicholas Pert, David Howell, Daniel Gormally, Anthony Kosten, Stephen Gordon, Simon Williams, Glenn Flear, Stewart Haslinger, Jacob Aagaard and Chris Ward.
