04/04/05 Snowstorm knocks out Mid-Ohio races scheduled for 4/2-3/05.

03/20/05 MARCUS TEAM 1-2 AT ROAD ATLANTA - Rob Mau and Sunny Hobbs Class of FFR Challenge Field. In the second Factory Five Challenge Cobra race of the weekend at Road Atlanta, Rob Mau started from the pole and took the checkered flag, in the process setting a new lap record, with Sunny Hobbs closing the gap to take the second spot. “A few more laps and I could have gotten closer to Rob, but today he was faster. We had a problem during the qualifying session for this race, and the headstart Rob had in the race was just too much in today’s sprint,” said Sunny Hobbs. She started in the third spot for FFR Cobra's, eighteenth overall in the multi-class field which included GTS and AI cars. “I got held up by a car at the beginning of the race and by the time I could get by him and the rest of the group we were in I had no chance of getting to the front. But after today’s start back in the pack, a second place was a great finish, and the 1-2 for Marcus Motorsports is terrific. Second today on top of yesterday’s win makes a very satisfying weekend.” Hobbs and Mau will be matched again in their Marcus Cobras at the Mid-Ohio road course on April 2nd and 3rd. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the remaining FFR Cobra Challenge races.

Sunny & Steve Marcus03/19/05 Sunny and Marcus Motorsports win again!!! In the Season's first race of Factory Five Cobra's, Sunny Hobbs streaked to the win. "This is the second race in a row I've won in a Marcus Motorsports Cobra. I like that combination, needless to say." After taking the qualifying pole, Sunny started in a field of 28 cars, and the competition was strong. "For the last 10 laps, I passed and re-passed several cars which I was racing with, and it was a blast!" Hobbs starts the same car tomorrow in the second day of racing at Road Atlanta. (more...)

8/5/04 PRESS RELEASE - Sunny Hobbs to Race New Smyrna Speedway - Holzer Motorsports and DSX Synthetic Lubricants confirmed today its association with SHE Racing and female stock car driver Sunny Hobbs, beginning with the Volusia Pennysaver Night race for Late Models at New Smyrna Speedway, on Saturday August 7th. “New Smyrna Speedway is a tough track, with good competition, and we are looking forward to kicking off our program with Holzer. Crew chief, Gene Allnutt, co-Owner of A&M Motorsports, and I have known each other for years, including at my ARCA races at Daytona and Atlanta Motor Speedway, and he has the experience needed to put together a competitive late model.“ Hobbs, in her 9 year race career, has raced late models, trucks, and sports cars, and most lately in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Most of her late model racing was at Caraway Speedway in North Carolina, but she has raced at numerous other tracks in Virginia and North Carolina. “New Smyrna is a high-bank track a lot like Southern National Speedway, which I always enjoyed, so I am excited about it. I am really appreciative of the time and hard work Holzer Motorsports has put into making this deal work. My fans continue to be loyal and supportive, and it is looking like finally women racers are making some progress in building long-term relationships with sponsors and competitive race teams. Hopefully this deal with Holzer will be the base for races this summer and fall, and for a full-time race schedule in 2005.” More information can be found at www.holzermotorsports.com and at www.sunnyhobbs.com.

Summer 2003
Well, hello friends and fans! I know you have not heard much from me lately and I've received many many emails from fans asking when my next race is, so...I thought I'd take a few minutes to tell you what I've been up to since my last ARCA race. Basically, I've been spending countless hours on the phone and in meetings and traveling to meet with team owners and potential sponsors to get a race deal put together. Many times during the past 12 months I would have said - "I have a deal that's 99% sure", and then, something has happened to change that. Mostly, it's about money. Getting a solid company to back a team is tough enough, but trying to do it in this economic environment has been very very difficult. Although I know, and many people around me know, that I have what it takes to be a successful NASCAR driver, it's hard to get the dollars to prove it. I still have high hopes, and have been spending my time focused on keeping myself sharp, fit and enjoying life. Of course, I still have to make ends meet, and have a full-time job. Racing is my passion though, and I am itchin' to get back on the track.
As you can see from the picture above, I spend a fair amount of my spare time fishing. Click here for more photos of me off the track this past year.

See you at the track!
Sunny

3/9/02 Sunny Hobbs has car problems and finishes 33rd in the ATLANTA ARCA RE/MAX Pork The Other White 400k race. She had been as high as 18th and was running in 20th position when her race day ended early. She had completed 68 laps.

"After qualifying 19th, I had pretty high hopes. We should have had a top 15 finish. I am disappointed, but that's just racing. We are really struggling financially and I needed a strong run, which I had, but the results just don't reflect it." Hobbs said

TOUGH DAY: Attrition ruled the ARCA race at Atlanta. Frank Kimmel led the first 51 laps before cutting a tire and hitting the wall. Tim Steele rolled in and out of the garage. And Sunny Hobbs lost a lap, battled back to 20th, then developed engine problems and had to visit the garage again. The Richmonder settled for a 33rd. (Richmond Times-Dispatch, Sunday March 10th)

We want to thank Fast Track Apparel of Melbourne, FL for their sponsorship at Atlanta.

Sunny will be driving the #91 Ford Taurus for Andy Belmont Motorsports. The second event of the 2002 ARCA RE/MAX Series will be her first experience at Atlanta Motor Speedway. “I really learned a lot at Daytona but it will be a whole new ball game for me at Atlanta since the track is so fast and unlike Daytona, we haven’t tested here.”

11th Place!!!

THE VOTING IS OVER and WE MADE IT.

I want to sincerely thank you for each and every vote.

A unique aspect is that there will be three women at Atlanta Motor Speedway next weekend attempting to make history. If Sunny Hobbs and Tina Gordon make the Pork The Other White Meat 400 ARCA race and Shawna Robinson qualifies for the MBNA America 500 next weekend, it will be the first time in history that three women will compete in one race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Hobbs is still working on sponsorship for the Atlanta race, but as of now is unsponsored. “We haven’t changed our overall goal for the year which is to run the full ARCA schedule and frankly, it’s gonna be very difficult for us to continue without sponsorship after Atlanta. However, I am optimistic and am staying focused on my game plan to get experience and race smart.”

The race will be televised on the Speed Channel - Monday, March 11 from 8 PM – 10 PM eastern and have LIVE radio coverage on the Performance Racing Network (PRN). For more information, visit http://www.sunnyhobbs.com
