  • 22 May 2007 - Club Library Book List
    A list of the books in the club's library has been compiled by Barak Atzmon-Simon and is now available on the web site by clicking here.

  • 5 May 2007 - Club Champion Decided
    (From Norm Greenwood)
    Congratulations to Max Illingworth who won a postponed game against Yu-shiun Chen on Thursday night and is the Club Champion this year with a score of 8.5 points out of 11.
    Max, who is also the Club Lightning Champion for 2006 and 2007 and was the Candidates Winner in 2005, appears to be the first Junior to become Club Champion in the Club's 99 year history.

  • 14 April 2007 - Games from the Simul by GM Shipov
    Some games from the recent Simul with GM Shipov are now available here. An article describing the event has also been contributed by Barak Atzmon-Simon. You can read it here.

  • 3 April 2007 - Visit by GM Shipov
    Tuesday 3 April has been set aside for a Simul and/or Lecture by GM Sergei Shipov of Russia (rating 2591) as arranged with Vladimir Smirnov from St George (Note that this is subject to confirmation). GM Sergei Shipov is coming to Australia to play in the Doeberl Cup in Canberra over Easter and in the following week in the inaugural Sydney International Open Tournament being held at Parramatta Town Hall from 10th to 14th April 2007. Arrangements have been made for Sergei to give Simuls/Lectures at St George and North Sydney during his short stay in Sydney.

    The Club Championship began on Feb 13th. The draw and results will be posted here as they become available.

  • 17 October 2006 The latest results of the second leg of the Little Board match vs. Manly are now available here

  • 8 October 2006 The Game Collections section of the website has been completely revamped. Apart from a new look, the game viewer now allows viewing of positions in variations. Some games from the current Ford Memorial Tournament are now available here. You can submit your tournament games for publication by emailing them to webmaster@northsydneychess.org in PGN or Chessbase format.

  • 29 August 2006 - The Ford Memorial Tournament began on August 29. Here are the Current Results.


General Information

North Sydney Chess Club meets each Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the Auditorium at North Sydney Leagues Club, 12 Abbott Street, Cammeray. The club was established in 1908. The activities of the club for this year are available in the Club Programme. This website is maintained on a volunteer basis by club member Peter Nosworthy, with the support of the club committee. Web Game Collections

The club maintains an on-line collection of chess games. This includes games played in club tournaments and other games of general interest from various events throughout the chess world. The games may be viewed on-line in a javascript viewer or downloaded and for use with other chess software. The games are in PGN format.
