Saipa Car company organize Saipa chess festival
from 12-21 September 2004, include second Saipa GM tournament and
first Saipa open tournament, in Iran Chess Federation Building. GM
tournament is a 12 players round robin tournament, with standard
FIDE time control (90Min+ 20Sec/Move), participates are 6
players form Saipa Chess Team in the Iran Super league tournament
and 6 GM from: Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

GhaemMaghami, IM Mahjoob, IM Moradi & IM Ghorbani competed for Iran
Chess Championship in Federation’s Tournament hall from 5-12 August
2004 in an 11 Rounds Swiss tournament with FIDE standard time
control (90Min. + 30 Sec./Move). GM GhaemMaghami won the title for
the fifth time, after a tie break match against IM Elshan Moradi
Abadi 4-3.

Ghane from Ardebil won one tournament in Bulgaria, he got 7 point
out of 9 and achieve his first Norm for International Chess
Grandmaster title, and his third Norm for International Chess master
title, in the next FIDE congress his IM title must be approve.

Mahjoob Morteza of Iran won Asian Zone 3.1a CH.for men, held in
Dubai, UAE 5-12 Oct. with 8 points , got IM title & qualified to
world CH. UAE Taleb Moussa came second with 7.5 followed by Qatari
Mohamed Nasser, UAE Abdulla Hassan with 6 pts. 14 players from 9
Asian countries took place. In women cat., WM Shadi Paridar of Iran
won gold with 8 pts & qualified to world CH. Iraqi Eman Al-Rufei was
second with 6.5 , UAE Mona Al-Harmoudi came third with 6.5 points &
got WIM title. UAE Fatma AlHammadi came fourth with 5 pts & got WFM
title. UAE Ebtisam Mohamed, Mariam Mansour and Syrian Diana Khalifeh
scored 4.5 pts and got WFM title.

Mashhad from
24th of September to 2nd of October
2003, GM GhaemMaghami, Mahjoob and mallahi were abroad for
international competitions, and finally after 11 round Swiss system
tournament IM Ghorbani from Tehran with 9 point out of 11 got the
title and Mohammadi from Esfahan with 8 stand second and
Elshan
moradiabadi from Tehran and Shojat
Ghane from Ardabil stood next places
with 7.5 points.
Omid Noroozi
, Tehran champion
After 9 round Swiss competition from 12-20th July
2003, Omid Noroozi won the Tehran championship. there was 230
participate, and Omid with 8 from 9 and with better tie break than
Mehdi Khaghani with the same point won the cup. after them Elshan
Moradi and Seyed Javad Alavi with 7.5 stand third and forth.

Mohammed Kambuzia
Appointed Adviser to FIDE President
FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has approved the appointment of
Mohammed Jafar Kambuzia, former President of the Chess Federation of
the Islamic Republic of Iran and ex President of FIDE Zone 3.1a as
Adviser to the FIDE President. In a letter to Mr. Kambuzia,
President Ilyumzhinov commended him for his accomplishments, which
include the building of a Chess Centre and Hotel for the Iranian
Chess Federation and for the successful hosting of the 2000 World
Chess Championship final match in Tehran.President Ilyumzhinov added
that he was looking forward to Mr. Kambuzia`s contributions in
advising him, inter alia, on the key policy area of
commercialisation of the activities of FIDE.

Dr.Gholamrezaie New I.R.Iran
Chess
Federation President
Dr. Ali Asghar GHOLAMREZAIE was recently elected the new president
of the I.R.Iran Chess Federation. He won the elections over twelve
other candidates, garnering more than 50% of the votes in the first
ballot on 21st June 2003. Dr. Gholamrezaie has good experience in
chess organization and management at the Bahman Cultural Center.
In Iran every four years the General Committee of chess which
includes 43 persons from different chess
associations must elect the new president. The previous
president Mr. Mohd. Kambouzia, resigned four months ago. He had been
very successful in developing chess in Iran and built the chess
federation building and hotel.
