The 2007 annual membership meeting was held during the state championship at the Howard Johnson's in Madison Wisconsin. The proposed bylaws changes were accepted by the members, though the voting age change was close, succeeding by only two votes. There were the terms ending at this meeting, with an extra seat on the board up for election due to John Phythyon's resignation. Mike Nietman and Guy Hoffman were returned to their seats, with former board president Peter Webster elected to the seat held by David Granik. Dennis Kosterman was elected to fill the remaining year of John Phythyon's term. Please welcome our new member (Dennis) and welcome back our new-old member (Peter). And and join the board in thanking both John Phythyon and David Granik for their service to Wisconsin chess. |

A special meeting of the Board may be called by the President or upon written request of three Board members. Five Board members present in person constitute a quorum. The Board may establish rules for recognition of proxies for absent Board members. Change 6.3 to read: Each member 16 years of age or older present in person shall have one vote at a membership meeting and may vote no more than one proxy from an absent member. GBO Brings More of the Same After the GBO, nothing much changes in the Tour, beyond leadership margins. Guy Hoffman's 9-point overall lead turned into a 50-point lead over second-place Neil Gleason. Likewise Hoffman's slim lead in the Class A section turned into a 50 point lead. In Class B Sasha Vellikanov opened up a a commanding 100-point lead. Not to be outdone, in Class C Bill Murtaugh doubled his former lead, vanishing into the distance with 140-point lead. Sandy Pahl's slim Class D lead has turned into a 47-point lead, while in the Under 1200 class, Geremy Webne-Behrman turned a 25-point lead into 62 points. |
