2003 Prize Giving Ceremony

The Annual prize giving ceremony was held on 22nd Nov 2003 at 4:30 PM at Mutual sports club, Collymore Rock.  prize winners . Prizes were given by the representative of Barbados Olympic Association.

The Classifieds sponsored by Royal Bank of Canada were completed as 8 round swiss on Monday, 13th October 2003.  The representative fro Royal Bank of Canada gave the prizes to the winners: Terry Farley (Class A), Muralidhar Areti (Class B), Ladies Champion Rashida Corbin (Class C) and Felix Huggins (Class D).   Details..

FM Delisle Warner and Mr Anthony Earlam have competed in the International Santa Domingo Open Chess Tournament that was from 27th Nov 2003 to 5th Dec 2003.   Live Games -  Schedule

Congratulations to FM Delisle Warner (the National Champion) and FM Philip Corbin for coming first and second in the 3rd Caribbean Chess Open which was held at Martinique (28th Oct - 2nd Nov 2003).   

Askari Elson, Muralidhar Areti & Martyn Del Castilho competed in the Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Junior Chess Championship held at San Cristobal, Venezuela.    Details..  Games..

FM Delisle Warner wins the 2003 Barbados National Championship with a score of 11 points (11 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses). FM Philip Corbin takes the second position with 9 points (9 wins, 2 losses) and Askari Elson, the Sagicor Open Junior Chess Championship winner finishes third with 7.5 points (6 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses).  The Corbin vs Warner match was webcast live for the first time in Barbados. Members of the Barbados Chess Federation are thankful to Dr Daaim Shabazz and ICC for making the webcast possible.
