1. e4 e5 {I was going to test young Irakli with a Sicillian but decided at the
board to play a double e-pawn opening.} 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. d3 Bc5 5. Nc3
d6 6. Bg5 Be6 7. Nd5 Bxd5 8. Bxd5 h6 9. Bh4 {? This is considered a textbook
positional mistake. Thankfully for me, my opponent at the tender age of 10
hasn't read all the textbooks. After ...9 g5 the bishop becomes entombed on g3.
} 9... g5 10. Bxc6+ bxc6 11. Bg3 Rb8 12. Rb1 Qe7 13. O-O {
?! Castling into a pawn storm cannot be recommended!} 13... h5 {
! Here comes the storm!} 14. h3 {
?! The ungainly 14. h4 had to be tried to stop the opening of the h file.}
14... g4 15. hxg4 hxg4 16. Nh2 Qf8 {
With the idea of increasing the pressure along the h file with Qh6.} 17. c3 Qh6
18. Re1 {? According to Fritz 5.32 this is the losing move but it is a very
difficult and bad position for white anyway.} 18... Nh5 {!} 19. Qxg4 {
I am sure almost any other 10 year old would play 19. Nxg4 but after 19...
Nxg3!! 20. Nxh6 Rxh6 black mates along the h file.} 19... Nxg3 20. Qxg3 Ke7 21.
Qh3 Qf4 {! Winning the knight!} 22. Qf3 Qxh2+ 23. Kf1 Rh4 24. d4 Rf4 25. Qe3
exd4 26. cxd4 Bb4 27. Red1 Rg8 28. Ke2 Rxg2 29. Rf1 Qh5+ 30. Kd3 Rf3 {
I will savour this victory for the time being know that my next encounter with
Irakli will be much more difficult.} 0-1
