FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


Do you accept purchase orders?

> We do accept purchase orders from schools and government municipalities, libraries, etc. Please complete your order through the normal shopping cart and choose Purchase Order as your payment method and follow the instructions. Or, you can fax your purchase order to us at (801) 880-1098. Wholesale Chess will ship your items as soon as we can verify your organization meets our requirements for the use of purchase orders. We will then work with your Accounts Payable department for payment. Call 888-582-4377 for help!

Why does your website look funny or not work at all?
> We design our website for use with modern browsers, especially Internet Explorer 6. Please make sure your browser is up to date!

Do you sell internationally?
> We do sell internationally. Please use our online shopping cart and checkout process to complete your order. Just add items to your cart, choose your country, and then choose your shipping method.

Do you charge sales tax?
> We charge sales tax only to customers in Utah (unless the Utah customer is a school or other tax-exempt organization, in which case, please add your tax-exempt number to the order COMMENTS field).

How can I pay for my order?
> We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards. We also accept PayPal, money orders, and checks that clear the bank. Verifiable schools and goverment municipalities may use purchase orders. International customers may need to pay with Western Union or a direct money wire transfer.

Do you donate chess equipment to schools or organizations?
> We currently do not donate chess equipment to schools or organizations outside of our local community in Utah. But we will if either a) our suppliers and manufacturers start giving it away for free to us or b) we become a multi-million dollar company. Until then we will just continue to sell the best equipment at the lowest prices.

Can I use your pictures and information for my own site?
> In order to be able to use our pictures and information you must receive express written permission. Otherwise, as governed by the Site Use Agreement, you may not use our pictures or any other content.

Can I link to your site?
> Anyone may link to our site as long as it not in conflict with any terms of the Site User Agreement. Become a Wholesale Chess Member to receive credit for those who make purchases through your site!

I am looking for something in particular that I don't see on your site. How can I find it?
> If you would like us to carry a product that you don't currently see on our site, please contact us!

What is your return policy?
> We have a very reasonable return policy. Please click here to read the details.

Will you share my information with others?
> We will NEVER give or sell your information to others. Ever. We think people who sell information are evil. Please click here to read the entire privacy policy.

Can you put my team/club/school logo on boards and bags?
> We do offer custom chess boards! You might also want to order bags and have your logo printed or sewn on them!

Can I get a better price if I order more stuff?
> We want you to get the most equipment at the best price. In addition to the prices found on our website we may be able to give you a special deal, especially on quantities above those posted on our site.

Can I get a better price if I ask or feel like I am entitled or if I threaten to not say good things about Wholesale Chess?
> Wholesale Chess thinks everyone is special. In fact, we love you. However, we don't lower our prices based on threats or haggling. In our Western society, haggling is reserved for car salesmen. Please keep it that way. That is our policy. However, if you find a better deal elsewhere, we will match that price with no problem!

How can I get better at chess?
> To get better at chess you need to buy insane amounts of chess equipment. The more money you spend, the better you will get. We are obviously kidding. Get the right equipment and then do 2 things - PLAY and STUDY! There are also TONS of great websites out there for you to reference. Good luck!

What's the differance between Fritz, Junior & Shredder?
> Comparatively, it really depends on what you want from the program. Over all, Fritz is more well-rounded, Junior is more aggressive and analytical, Shredder is more strategical and a very strong end-game trainer. USING THE WHOLESALE CHESS ONLINE STORE

The Wholesale Chess online store is supposed to make your shopping experience easier! We have tried to create the easiest online shopping experience possible. However, all online stores are different and each one has it's own unique features. Please follow these steps to use the online store:

1) ADD ITEMS TO THE CART - Look through the site. When you see something you want, enter the quantity you want and then click ADD TO CART.

  • You can add as many items as you like at a time.
  • You can add items of multiple colors at the same time.
  • You can update your quantities later.

2) CLICK VIEW CART - When you are finished adding all of the items you want to the cart, click on any VIEW CART link or button.

3) REVIEW YOUR CART - Look at all of the items and make sure that all of the items are correct and have the correct quantities. Click the UPDATE button to update any changes.

  • You can change the number of items ordered.
  • You can delete items.

4) INPUT YOUR ZIP CODE & SHIPPING METHOD - Put in your 5 digit ZIP code in the blank field and then choose your preferred shipping method. Then click UPDATE to see the actual shipping costs. You can check different prices by changing the shipping method and clicking UPDATE. International customers must click the international orders link on the bottom of the page. Customers ordering more than 150 pounds of merchandise will be contacted after their order is placed with a custom quote for shipping.

  • Enter your 5 digit ZIP code
  • Select your shipping method
  • Update your order to see actual shipping costs
  • International customers require seperate shipping quotes
  • Orders greater than 150 lbs require special shipping quotes

5) BEGIN CHECKOUT - Once you are happy with your shopping cart and are ready to proceed, click the BEGIN CHECKOUT button.

6) FILL IN THE LOGIN INFORMATION - Choose to login if you are already a member, want to become a member, or continue without becoming a member. Becoming a member means that you don't have to re-enter your information next time you shop and you will be signed up to receive our once-a-month newsletter.

7) SHIPPING INFORMATION - Enter your shipping information and choose your payment method. If you are a member your information should be automatically filled in. Most customers will need to pay with credit card. Only schools and government municipalities (libraries, afterschool programs, correctional facilities, etc.) can buy with a purchase order. Click CONTINUE when you are finished.

8) BILLING INFORMATION - Enter your billing information. If you are a member then your billing information will already be entered for you.

The Security Code is an important security feature for credit card transactions on the Internet, over the phone, or in any situation where the card is not present. This code will have 3 or 4 digits and will be in a different location depending on the card type:

Check your information for accuracy and then click CONTINUE.

9) FINAL REVIEW and CHECKOUT - Please review all of the information on the final checkout page. If you need to make any changes to any of the information, click on the appropriate EDIT button. You will then be prompted to make changes to your order and click SAVE CHANGES. If everything looks good and you are ready to place your order, click SUBMIT ORDER one time to place your order. It may take a few seconds to process so please be patient.

10) PRINT RECEIPT - After you have checked out you will be taken to a closing page where you can choose to print the page, continue shopping, etc. Please click on the PRINT THIS PAGE link to be taken to a printer-friendly page. Print that page as it will be your only paper receipt. Thank you for shopping with Wholesale Chess!

 



SHIPPING

1) SHIPPING TIMES - Wholesale Chess will generally ship your items the same day you order if your order is placed before 2:00pm MST or the next day if place after that time. If it is going to take longer, we will make every effort to contact you. The chart below shows shipping times via UPS Ground. UPS does not guarantee its Ground shipping to be 100% on time, but in our experience they almost always deliver on the scheduled day. If you need an item to be delivered on an absolute date, we recommend you use Next Day, 2 Day, or 3 Day shipping as those are guaranteed.

As you can see, all of our shipments come from Salt Lake City, UT. So, west coast customers will not need a 3 Day or 2 Day shipment! If you choose one of those options and it will be delivered the same or faster with UPS Ground, we will make that adjustment for you and charge you less. Please call us if you have any questions!

NOTE: UPS does not count weekends or holidays as travel days. For example, a 4 day shipment to Ohio leaving on a Thursday will arrive the following Wednesday.

2) SHIPPING ESTIMATES - If you would like to know your shipping charges before you buy, just add the items you want to your cart and then view your cart. Adding items to your cart does not commit you to buying those items. You can then put in your country, ZIP code (if applicable), choose your different shipping methods, and then UPDATE to see the different prices. You can actually do this more quickly by yourself than you can by calling us, as we do it the same way you would do it - on the web with the shopping cart. Once you are happy with your shipping charges, click 'continue' to proceed with your order. To summarize:

  • You are not obligated to buy when putting items in your cart
  • Add items to cart
  • Enter your country and ZIP code
  • Choose your shipping method
  • See quote online

3) SHIPPING ERRORS - If, when you are trying to choose a shipping method in your shopping cart, you receive an ERROR text in the shipping field, that means you have selected a combination of items and shipping method or country that is not available to you. Try changing your shipping method, and make sure that the information you have entered is correct. If that does not work, please contact us immediately.

4) FREE SHIPPING - Wholesale Chess does offer free UPS Ground shipping only on some items. Your shopping cart will reflect the free shipping accurately.

The wholesalechess.com website is designed internally by our programmers and graphics people. It is designed to be used with all recent browsers, but is most optimized for Internet Explorer 6.

1) Be patient - let the browser load everything completely
2) Refresh the window - refresh the browser window to let a page fix itself
3) Update your browser - use the links below to update your browser

USING THE CATEGORY SEARCH AND SORT FEATURES

We have updated our category pages to help you better find what you are looking for. On each category page there is a new search bar. It displays types of products, category attributes, and other fields. You can combine this information to find precisely what you are looking for. For example, if you are on the Chess Clocks page and you wanted to find all plastic digital chess clocks from DGT, you can choose those options from the drop down menus and click SEARCH. Or, if you are looking for all opening chess books by GM John Nunn, you can choose opening books from the drop-down menu and put Nunn in the keywords or author field.

We have also now added multiple pages so that you aren't overwhelmed by what is on the screen. You can also filter your results based on bestselling, alphabetical, and by price.
