Bill Richardson on Gay Being a Choice  »  Bloggernista
By most accounts, Governor Bill Richardson did himself no favors be referring to homosexuality as a choice during last night’s LGBT presidential forum. Here is the clip from the forum followed by the statement that Richardson’s campaign issues to recover from the damage. Richardson Stumbles  »  Box Turtle Bulletin
The internet is a buzz. On last night’s Democratic forum sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign and broadcast on LOGO, Melissa Etheridge asked New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson whether he thought people were born gay or if it was a choice. He answered, “It’s a choice.” She rephrased the question, thinking Richardson misunderstood her, but Richardson repeated that he thought it was a choice. He then followed that with a rambling monologue about not seeing people with labels, but none of it was convincing with his deer-in-the-headlights look. At one point he said, “I don’t like to answer questions like ...

Do The Gay Debates Matter?  »  Queerty
America’s first queer-centric presidential debates are set to kick off on Thursday in California, offering voters a closer look at where the democratic presidential hopefuls stand on homo issues. By all accounts, the debates will go down as a historic moment. Never before in American history have gay people and their issues been given such an official platform. Whether there’s need for such a platform, well, remains open for debate. In a press release announcing the event, Human Rights Campaign’s Joe Solmonese, who will also be acting as one of the debate’s four moderators, wrote: These candidates have expressed a unified ...

Ron Paul's Anti-Atheist Bigotry, Homophobia, and Other Right-Wing Ideology  »  Godless Liberal Homo
Ron Paul has a swarm of zealots on the Internet, spewing pro-Paul propaganda in all sorts of liberal and progressive forums. The Paul worshipers will accurately point out his opposition to the Iraq War and the Unpatriotic Act, but they conveniently omit the vast majority of Paul's views, which are hateful and wacky right-wing. The deception is starting to offend a lot of liberals, and I'm one of them. After all, if Paul could get a 75% rating in 2005 from the “Family Research Council,” a Christian Right hate-group, that should give you some idea of where Paul ...
