Halo 2 Expansion for Xbox?
3/25/2005 at 2:26 PM

Rumours and speculations are seeing action from Xbox fans at each end of the earth.

On Friday (March 18, 2005), rumors began to circulate the internet after a posting for a videogame titled “Halo 2 X-Pack (Expansion Pack)” was listed on the Korean-Language version of Microsoft’s official XBOX website. One of the most popular rumors about the “coming soon” videogame was that it would satisfy gamers with additional single player missions to make up for what was considered a too short, cliff hanger ending videogame.

However, even though no official announcement has been made by Bungie or Microsoft, it seems that the rumored expansion pack for Halo 2 will not feature additional single player missions, instead it is expected to feature additional multiplayer maps for XBOX Live and System Link play, as well as non-playable video content. This information was provided along with a videogame listing under the name “Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack” on Electronics Boutique’s online store.

The product was posted and removed all on the same day, today, but it was listed for the price of $19.99 and was scheduled to ship on May 24, 2005. In past weeks, Bungie had hinted to the videogame world about additional Halo 2 features mainly “content” that would be available to everyone with or without XBOX Live. Until Bungie and/or Microsoft confirms or denies the future existence of a videogame titled “Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack,” the videogame world must simply wait, but in the mean time be prepared for many more “rumors” to circulate the internet.

We'll keep you up to date on this intriguing and exciting story.

Our Comments
Sean Nagasawa: Chances are Bill Gates will take advantage of the 7 million Halo 2 Xbox Live subscribers already in existence, but if he and the folks at Bungie are feeling generous, they may follow in Ninja Gaiden's footsteps and provide the pack entirely free, akin to Gaiden's Hurricane Pack. Check back for details as soon as they become available.
