Rapper 50 Cent to Star in Bulletproof
3/10/2005 at 9:44 PM

Ironic titles are getting old.

Recently, publisher Vivendi Universal relieved all mainstream music fans holding their breath with the official announcement of G-Unit ringleader 50 Cent's multiplatform entry into the gaming realm, 50 Cent: Bulletproof.

The shady details released thus far resemble the fundementals and questionable ethics of the Grand Theft Auto series, and allegedly stars 50 Cent himself in a "fantasy version" of his own life. The press release tells us Bulletproof is about "a web of corruption, double-crosses and shady deals that lead him on a bloody path through New York's drug underworld," and will be penned by Terry Winter, Emmy-winning Sopranos writer. Conveniently, Winter is currently working on Get Rich or Die Tryin', 50's soon-to-be-released film.

If playing through an East Side GTA as a popular rapper strikes you as worthwhile, you'll have to wait until fall to see if Bulletproof will live up to its name or if it'll just be a massacre. After E3, we'll have more relevent info on the title, like who's developing it and what hopefully fresh mechanics 50 Cent: Bulletproof will employ. You can expect to get those details as soon as they become available.

Our Comments
Cyrus Baetz: The inherently brutal nature of the game will throw some off, because livin' the thug life isn't for everyone. We've seen silly stuff like the nonsensical inclusion of martial arts moves, but a moment when 50 Cent stops a heaving cleaver with the butt of his rifle and decapitates the attacker with the blade, which is still stuck in his gun, boasts Bulletproof's ambition for innovation and showcases its overtly unorthodox badass main character.
