Description:
ZDocj is appropriate for those who only do oocasional editing. Its main advantages are that it's free, relatively fast, and works on very large files.
It was tested on files of about 4 MB, but is designed to handle files up to nearly 256 MB.
The feature list is about what you would expect for a basic editor: cut, copy, paste, mark, find, and replace. Handles compressed and encrypted files. Can create, rename, and delete files.
A manual and FAQ list are provided as included DOCs, but should be largely unnecessary for most users.
Source is available, for those who would like to make improvements or customizations.
Update Description:
v1.3:
- Adds a menu command to bring up the keyboard, per suggestion of Yili.
v1.2:
- Fixes a bug only affecting OS 6.x, where the select-to-mark button highlighted the wrong text under some circumstances.
- The following enhancements have also been added:
- Ability to select more fonts.
- Option to display the file on an unruled page.
- Labels on buttons and menus were changed to standard characters, so they display reasonably under Asian languages. Note that only English is officially supported, though.
- A optional teeny font is now included, for those blessed with a high-res screen and good eyes.
- Support added for high-res displays, including Sony, collapsing the dynamic input area, and landscape mode (thanks to the PalmResize package). This will only work if your PDA supports these things, of course.

Zdocj is fast, compact, and works great with TextSync. I like my Palms to be responsive and handle stacks and stacks of data so this application rocks. :) Keep up the good work.

the keyboard option now makes it possible to enter Asian text (with CJKOS installed) as well as English. Thanks for such effective support.

excellent. DIA support (480x320) is great. Couldn't find the standard 'keyboard' command though, would be very useful.

This editor is great! It loads large files much faster than SiEd and is a lot less buggy. Editing is very fast. Only QED is better so far, but this is free! :D

Sorry to hear about your trouble, Ferenc Kudász. If you write to me at the email address above, I would really like to narrow down the symptoms, and fix the bug. Any kind of freeze is unacceptable to me. I would write you directly, but did not see your email address above. I have run zdocj on the IIIc emulator, and have not been able to make the PDA freeze. There were two known bugs that could make zdocj itself appear stuck, but you would still be able to exit the program and re-enter. I can mail you a beta version of the 0.9 version, if you will write me. Thanks!

It has freezed my palm IIIc OS 3.5 repeatedly (v0.6 and v0.8 too). Could be good if it weren't like this.
