Description:
Audio Driver for Palm OS(R), composed of Audio Driver and Sound Pro, is designed for providing environment that allows Palm Powered(TM) handhelds to play WAVE Sound.

Reference manual of the Audio Driver APIs has been opened to the public, and we hope the Audio Driver could be a standard for sound solution on Palm Computing Platform(R).

We are preparing some documents for higher functional APIs, that should be released soon.

Programing samples, that are originally provided by Palm Computing, are contained in the package to show how easily the Audio Driver can be used in applications.

And more, sample application with source code is also provided for developer.

Update Description:
v1.2(10/06/2002):
- Audio Driver updated to v1.2-Release.

Good software. Only problem is the .wav to .pdb utility provides rather poor results.

Yes, I like this program and it is super! BUT how can I enter files that are over 30 sec? I can only enter little clips. if they are bigger than 30 sec, then it will play the sond slower.

A good attempt but I cannot hear the music that I have put on my Palm IIIc. Mostly I can hear a strange fuzzy noise.

Good software! my visor Pro can now play wave file. Anyway for my PDA those wav i encoded 22khz rate cannot play well. I try until 8khz only can play well. sound kinda soft. But overall l love the software/driver

This is fairly good accomplishment, as was stated, but the sound quality leaves something to be desired on my M130.

Nothing happen after installed in my M500. I can't hear the sound from MusicPlayer. Also, I can load aDrvPublic.h in SD.

It's just what I wanted. Sounds just like a radio on my AlphaSmart Dana!

It deserves 5 stars. It gives good result on such a poor device like my Visor Platinum. The only thing is that I cannot make my own audio files using the provided utility for wave-to-pdb conversion; the result is terrible (I tried 8 KBit mono waves as the document instructs). Waiting for improvements.

I manage to install it on my Zire 71, turned the driver on, and did a soft reset. Nothing happens. no extra sound or whatsoever..

Well worth a download, the quality of the sound is not brilliant but play WAVE files through a pizeo buzzer is quite an achivement! works great on my m105. Thought I can't seem to delete sound databases.

The sound quality is rather poor, but it is a good attempt at an issue ingored by Palm.

I am using version 1.1 and, except for the very annoying duck sound which comes up when events occur, it is a very nice feature for my m130. I tried to replace the duck sound with one of my generated wave sounds, but then the whole package crashed. making the sounds more customisable would be highly appreciated.

The key to getting this to work is to make sure that the CPU is not overloaded. On my Handspring Treo the driver works fine only when my WAV files are 8KHZ and I play on the lowest volume. I use the Shareware program Goldwave for conversions.

This program only maks a rough, broven note when playing any wave files, even the samples. I am using Palm515.

*** [Oct 7, 2002] by Shawn Anthony
This is good, it works, but the sound quality is very low (although you can sorta tell its a voice etc) and it slows some sounds down to half speed and it stops sometimes before the song is done (less often on low volumes) okay, but definatly watch for improvede versions (they have a few bugs to work out) I left it on anyway and am glad I have it.

In a Palm 505 the sound quality is poor and only plays the first few notes of any given sound. It still need much work to make it worthwile.

I have a palm 505 and I like that I can receive music on my pda. I wish palm would have took notes from sony clie on built-in audio sound. Anyway, the audio driver sound ruff on my palm 505. What's the deal?

** [Jun 19, 2002] by bmania
The example program only plays the first second of the audio on my Visor Neo. Probably the driver still need much work.
