Works great for the PALM Model it is designed for. Why on earth are the tungsten user (I have one too!) using it when it states it is for the older palms. Not to mention the date should be a clue to the site new users... Pay attention. If it locked it up. Well maybe you should have paid more attention? ;-)

I used this program on my Tungsten E2 and while doing the hotsynch to transfer it to the Tungsten E2 the machine would reboot but not past the Palm Logo screen. It will not bring up Palm OS 5 and go to my lancher program anymore. Also my Tungsten E2 will not shut off anymore. I want the author of freeboost to reimburse me for repairs to get this Palm Tungsten E2 running again. I'm not impressed with this program. If anyone has a fix for this email me at dbaer@hoflink.com

Guys this program only works on Motorola DragonBallEZ Microprocessor not any higher.(ARM)

Improved the performance of my Palm IIIe by 48% as measured by Benchmark v2.0.

I tried the program and my Tungsten E froze up immediately. I tried a soft reset many times and the only thing that appears on the screen is the Palm logo. I have no clue what to do.

Unbelievable... I own A Palm IIIc and I will say that it defininately increased in speed. most noticeably in my gameboy emulator that I have installed. I don't think it was quite a 100% speed increase but definatly in the upper realms of 80% to the lower realms of 90% speed increase. However, I put it on my friends palm IIIxe And it has more than trippled the speed (300% plus). Also I do not know why they say it takes five minutes to increase the speed, it takes like two seconds -> all you have to do is click one thing and then tap the home key on your silkscreen(graffiti area).

I had much the same problem as one of the reviews below, My Treo 650 went into a loop and keep rebooting itself. I finally did a soft reset but any time I tried to bring up the applications menu it rebooted. Had to do a hard reset then find the program on my PC to remove it from the BACKUP folder so the restore would not put it back. Not blaming the creator just giving a warning not to try it on Palm OS5 level machines till changed and approved by creator.

I intalled this rubbish on my Tungsten T3 from a CD Rom supplied by PC Tools Magazine.As soon as I ran the program a FATAL ALERT message Fatal Exception appeared on the screen and asked for a reset. Resetting just produced the same message. I can not turn the T3 off or do any thing with it.

Yes, this is the worst software of have ever downloaded. I have a zire71 and it locked my palmheld. I had to a warm boot and erase all data, then hot sync and put the data back on making sure that "freeboost" was deleted through my backup file folder.

It actually slowed my M130 down! For example, one search took 23 seconds on normal, and *27* on "turbo"!

No problems at all. Runs perfectly. Palm Vx with OS 4.1, about 1.7M free memory (lots of apps and data) tested with Speedy v3.2 for benchmark. Before: 99% or 20 Mhz; After 115% or 23 Mhz (stock Palm Vx=100% or 20 MHz).

I have a Sony Clie SJ33 and this download increased the speed substantially. I recommend it.

**** [May 9, 2003] by Nesha
So far I like it a lot. It didn't make my m130 run at lightning speed or anything, but I did indeed notice a difference, it does run faster now. Thanks for a cool program!

I noticed a good (maybe 15% increase of overall speed) increase of speed on My Handspring Visor Deluxe. I would Like to point out, however, for all of those with the new Treo handhelds, as well as the people with the Clie; that this program was intended for handhelds with the Motorola Dragonball EZ processor. Those handhelds DO NOT HAVE THAT PROCESSOR. That being said, for all those of us with older models, download freely.

Palm Vx with PalmOS 4.1: 50% less time in my searches. What can i say? Incredible but true. No crashes for the moment.

This product really works if your machine is compatible..... It does the exact same as cruise control ... EXACT SAME... is only works on palm devices that use the CruiseControl !!!!!!!!!!!!!only works with Palm Organizers that use the Motorola DragonBallEZ Microprocessor (MC68EZ328), such as the PalmV and PalmIIIX. It should not be used on other Palm devices.

I gained about 26% speed increase on a 20 MHz 8MB Palm V (not Vx) with OS 4.1. That figure is the same with Cruise Control (http://www.bluenomad.com/cc/prod_cruisecontrol_details.html). I guess both these programs do the same thing: change the wait states for the RAM access.

Here's how I got the 26%. First I deleted all speed enhancement programs (afterburner, cruise control, Freeboost, etc) and did a soft reset on my PALM (to make sure that no speed enhancement programs are sitting in memory), and then did a word search using Palm Bible Reader. The search took 36.5 secs. Next I installed FreeBoost, set the speed to turbo and then did another search: 27 secs. That works out to a 26% speed increase.

Benchmark rating increased from 91% to 136% on a Palm m105. Set FreeBoost back to Normal and Benchmark's rating was 91% again. Objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear. Your mileage may vary. Etc.

** [Nov 30, 2002] by Alberto
I must punctuate that a 100% improvement in speed means twice the speed, just like a 50% improvement means it goes one half faster than before. Anyway, this is not the case.

**** [Nov 26, 2002] by Scott
Palm Vx - searching 1300 page document for a word at the end takes consistently 33% less time when this is enabled (20 sec. rather than 30 sec).

*** [Nov 26, 2002] by Sam
Well... it says increases speed by 100% which means, in fact, by its statement that there should be no speed increase at all... since and increase of 100% means there is no increase!!!! And... this is what you get... so I guess the description is accurate!

* [Nov 26, 2002] by Nicolas
No speed improvement noticed on a Palm 515. Morevover, crash and software reset after using the mapviewer application. Stayed less than 2 mn on my handheld. Then I deleted it...

* [Nov 26, 2002] by sch
No increase in speed on Treo 270! Produce few crashes!

** [Nov 25, 2002] by nzmoko (Geneva, Switzerland)
Noticed absolutely no increase in speed whatsoever... HS Treo180.

*** [Nov 25, 2002] by PK
There was no documentation to tell me what to do. I assumed that I had to click on the Turbo button but I didn't see any speed improvement on my Palm VIIx. Am I missing something?

** [Nov 25, 2002] by George
I could not see any change in performance. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is... On the help screen it mentions going to their webpage for the "new" version which asks for your email address. This may be a scam to get SPAM email lists.

* [Nov 25, 2002] by Graham
Well on a 66Mhz Clie, it resulted in a 30% reduction in performance!! So much for their guaranteed performance improvement. :-(
