Timesheet aims to track the time spent on a number of different tasks to the nearest minute, with the ability to exclude scheduled breaks, measured against a standard working week or working fortnight, all with as little recording burden on the user as possible.

I like it, simple interface. Awesome functionalities: standard day and self adjusting time. Good preferences, good statistics and grafs. Haven't tried export and misses import.

Excellent basic program. I'm using it for a year long time study in a volunteer fire department to track time spent in 7 different administrative tasks. I love the summaries for the reports.

I've tried out several "punch clock" apps for my Palm, and dismissed Timesheet early on when I forst used version 1.0 a few months ago. But then there's v1.2. Kudos to Mr. Sankey for making a program that's powerful but simple to use. Having Timesheet around saves me at least an hour or two a week when it comes to figuring out my billable hours and really lets me see where my time is going. While the on-screen reporting limits the number of tasks (lumping projects with small durations into an "other tasks" category) the daily summary and export function seem to show everything. I haven't hit the upper task limit yet, but even if I do I like the program enough to juggle tasks if I have to so I can keep using it. Well done!

After spending more time using Timesheet, I feel the need to qualify my previous hyberbolic praise. Although well-designed and user-friendly, the program has a severe handicap: daily and weekly reports are restricted to a maximum of nine tasks, a fact that is made clear in the program's Info pop-ups. The author has increased the maximum number of tasks in version 1.1.5 to twenty, but the reporting limit stays. This seems to me impractical and unrealistic considering that many jobs, even the simplest ones, involve multi-tasking. The new cap of 20 tasks is also illogical: why allow for 20 when those in excess of the 9-task limit will not be timed or reported anyway?

I tried to exceed this limit by logging two excess tasks within a 24-hour period. The Timesheet timer froze on the 11th task and would not let me time out until after I had deleted another, previously timed, task. Of course, you make do with just nine general tasks, but this would defeat the ultimate purpose of any work-time tracker: to see where one's time goes and whether one has been productive or not. I hope Jody Sankey will do some more revising. It would be sad to see such a beautiful program not living up to its full potential.

I think Mr Carlos of Switzerland is missing the basic philosophy behind Timesheet. This app was designed essentially for those working regular hours for a company, to help monitor how much time they spend on particular tasks. Even so, it can be very useful, I imagine, to those who work freelance like myself or otherwise observe flexible work hours. PTimLog was designed with a different purpose in mind, which explains why it is complicated and certainly bloated at 292kb.

It's ok. A little on the basic side - for consultants etc who need to keep track of actual billing time for more than one client (not necessarily only time worked). Good effort. Check out PTimlog for some ideas.

Although the tasks seem to add up in the report when two tasks are done during the same day, the display seems to show the first task time, making me think the first task was overwritten, then when viewing the new task on the "today page" make sure you don't 'View" it while the PDA clock matched the start time or you'll get an annoying error message "start time must be before current time." It's annoying and frustrating, but it does eventually work.
