BLACK & DECKER | GL650 | This trimmer worked very well up until two weeks ago.It has started to eat the cord and wrap it around places it should not be.Could someone please post instructions on this site as to how one threads the cord so that it works for me.It was my husbands but he is not with us anymore and we dont have the instrutions to help us. | | Jinny | 11/08/2007 08:01:05 |

Unbranded | Landxcape Brush Cutter | Great bargain priced machine. Split-shaft means all the Ryobi Expand-It attachments fit it, including strimmer head. I have been using mine for well over a year and everything is still attached and working. | | Matt | 05/08/2007 08:21:51 |

FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | This is a cracking peice of machinery that creates sheer neatness around lawn edges and borders. Easy to use, the wheel acts as a guide to a perfect line edge. It`s light weight an so easy to adjust from working around trees to performing perfect edging.......a very impressed customer:) | | Gina | 21/02/2006 12:38:46 |

BLACK & DECKER | GL650 | not bad little strimmer. only problem with it is the line feder. keeps getting tangled up. and most shops do not have the spool line to buy.. otherwise not bad strimmer 6 out of 10.. | | Anon | 21/02/2006 12:37:33 |

FLYMO | Revoltution 2300 | Great Strimmer, copes with pretty much everything you can throw at it, I have just strimmed my whole garden ( edges that is !! ..) in 1/2 hr. I borrowed this one and will be trying to buy one of these this afternoon, I just hope thay are not out of production .. | | Matt C | 27/06/2003 08:38:41 |

McCulloch | Trimac 250 | I have a trim mac 250 and i think that it is worth the money. It is very easy to start, no effort to pull cord needed, very powerfull and it cuts great. Nothing to hate about it, very good on fuel. | | adam, penzance cornwall | 06/03/2003 11:02:48 |

McCulloch | Trimmac 210 | Wow, the man at the garden centre said it would only cut soft grass upto 6mm, Its eating 12mm hard brambles for breakfast! Nice when something turns out better than described when sold. Thanks it made life easy. | | John in Mytchett | 05/10/2002 12:36:54 |

|
Challenge | Xtreme Electric Grass Trimmer | A great strimmer and brush cutter, its cuts grass with ease, but unfortunately i lent it out and it came back with a burnt out motor, i can only guess that they tried to cut through a thick chunk of wood with the brush cutter! well worth the buy! | | diy_man | 04/09/2007 17:46:11 |

|
Challenge | Cordless Grass Trimmer | Maybe a bit low powered compared to mains models. Fitting fresh cutting cord is awkward (as with most strimmers), could be better explained in the manual. | | gardening is just another chore | 11/04/2007 07:15:21 |

|
Homelite | F2020 | I have one and it can be hard to start but if you store it with the motor higher than the trimmer head and the tank to the bottom. It usually starts within 2-3 pulls on the cord. | | McEd | 10/10/2007 12:01:18 |

BLACK & DECKER | GL687 | I`m with the first reviewer! Spool is out and I can`t seem to find a replacement! When it works it`s great but lack of replacements lets it down! | | disappointed | 04/09/2007 17:44:25 |

BLACK & DECKER | GL687 | I have recently brought this product from my local DIY store and now I can`t find a replacement spool and line and now I am unable to use it. | | Jam | 12/08/2007 18:55:52 |

|
FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | Contrary to the above review, I find this machine to be bottom heavy, unbalanced, right hand biased and has an utterly useless reel loading/ rewinding mechanism. I trully regret buying this piece of rubbish and long for my old Black & Decker, whose line reel is no longer available, therefore unusable | | Disigruntled short left hander | 16/04/2007 11:13:20 |

BLACK & DECKER | GL220SC | the ring which fits the nylon spool always breaks. the plastic ring is not durable. i had to buy over and over to replace it. i find it costly. | | ivan the gardener | 18/11/2003 13:26:56 |

McCulloch | Trim-Mac 240 | This is an average machine, reasonable for the money. My wife feels comfortable using it. | | a gardener | 03/10/2003 07:09:54 |

Challenge | Cordless Grass Trimmer | This seemed a good product- handy for a long garden to not have to pull a long electrical lead. But it did not take long for the machine to break- cheap but not worth the money. I will spend more money on a replacement which I hope will last. WEH | | Wes | 04/06/2007 18:51:55 |

|
Challenge | Cordless Grass Trimmer | the first one i bought broke in a few weeks and the next one has broken around where the cord comes out. I wish I had spent more money and invested in one that would last me more than a year. | | anon | 07/05/2007 08:54:28 |

FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | diffcult replacing the line.It jams inside the spool and you have to stop and release the trapped line.VERY FRUSTRATING AND TIME CONSUMMING. | | Anon | 16/04/2007 11:14:10 |

|
Unbranded | Landxcape Brush Cutter | The main problem with this is the fact it cannot double as a petrol strimmer. Other drawbacks include the actual weight and also vibration during use. Although cheap to buy I would recommend a branded cutter like the McCulloch. | | Chris | 08/08/2006 21:02:09 |
| |
|
McCulloch | Trimac 250 | The product does not permit a harness to be attached which is a definite drawback as the item is heavy and one"s arm is in contact with a hot engine. | | Roger | 20/08/2004 17:12:03 |

BLACK & DECKER | GL687 | The auto feed on this strimmer is useless. It feeds far too frequently and now the spool cover has broken. It costs me a whole spool every time I do my lawns. Definately not recommended. Spend your money on something else. | | robinthebank | 13/09/2007 10:27:23 |

|
FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | I am another short left handed gardener who utterly detests many aspects of this orange monster`s design. I am sick of having to unblock & rewind every 3 feet or so while edging. Like the earlier disgruntled short left hander I long for my old B & D whose line I could rewind forever, with never a snagging. Is this modern progress, i.e. the orangeness? I wish I could score 0 but the scoring system doesn`t permit this. There is some comfort in finding that it is not just you! | | disgruntled short left hander II | 26/08/2007 09:34:18 |

Challenge | MIG-ZP-250 | Works well until you run out of wire and then you`re stuffed - tried the net and B&Q;, but no cartridges seem to fit this trimmer - so off to buy a new one! | | CraigM | 15/06/2007 12:58:49 |

FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | Agree, agree, agree. Definitely doesn`t like grass. Will try what the last reviewer suggested and get a stronger line and try that instead. Hope it works, otherwise I agree, this useless piece of junk will be in the bin | | Mike | 06/06/2007 18:09:17 |

FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | For ever having to stop and re feed line, 10 times during one cut, also have a flymo multi trim which is far superior. Anyone want to but a contour 500 | | alan | 04/06/2007 18:51:27 |

FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | 500 watt mottor and line that breaks at the sight of grass, useless combination, I can strim for max 2 mins in grass, if your cutting against a wall etc it lasts 20 secs. bought new stronger line for a bigger machine and wound it myself, made this machine useable, otherwise it would have been in the bin, wish I had bought locally rather than online it would have gone back | | Stephen | 22/05/2007 07:45:07 |

Challenge | Swivel Head | This is a very unsatisfactory product. It has a working life of about 1 year when used for light domestic work such as lawn edging tidying margins. The cord delivery system is fragile and wears away so that the cord feeds continuously and ends up chopped into hundreds of short lengths. Rating 1 if this is the worst or 5 if this is!! | | Johnny | 20/08/2004 17:11:48 |

BOSCH | Art 25GSA | Not sure if it's just mine but after trimming the lawn (average size) I need a new line. It also refused to feed the line and kept trapping the line inside the spool. I think I must have taken it apart about 30 times, don't buy it. | | Bad News | 14/07/2002 13:30:37 |

QUALCAST | Trim-Lite 23SE | I would never buy a product from this company again. I used my weed eater 3 times and it is unusable. What a joke. Yeah the price is cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. | | Not happy | 05/05/2002 18:50:39 |

FLYMO | Contour 500 Power Plus | Having owned and enjoyed a Pro Performance (B & Q generic) electric strimmer for the past two years, I was devestated to discover that I couldn`t get a replacement cover for the spool. Original cover made of plastic and from wear and tear, had weakened and broken. Was heading out in the morning to purchase a Flymo Contour 500 - so am delighted to now have the benefit of so many reviews. Keep up the good work. Seems like I`ll have to re-think which trimmer/edger to purchase. THANKS to you all. | | Louise | 10/10/2007 12:01:08 |

BLACK & DECKER | GL687 | I borrowed this strimmer from a friend and found that it the feed kept breaking every 5 mins. I put in a new one and now a little part is broken off and lost and am searching for a replacement part so that I can return the strimmer in tact to my good friend. I do not remcommend anyone buy this product. | | Not good tool | 02/10/2007 12:07:12 |

Homelite | F2020 | Yep, I agree with the first two. The thing thing makes me cry with frustration and I`m not kidding. I guess it may not help that I`m not an avid gardener and only try to start it once every few months, but I think you may have to be male and have shoulder muscles out to there to keep pulling on the damm cord. My son however, has no trouble using his. Works like a dream, he says! I think I`ll shoot it! | | Merryl | 04/03/2007 16:45:21 |

|
McCulloch | Trim-Mac 240 | The first review is grossly unfair and I suspect the manual was not read!
It is easy to handle if you put the carrying handle in the correct place to balance the machine and at the best angle for your height and left or right handedness.
All strimmers are noisy, this one no more or less than any other. They get noisier (they race) if the line is too short but the engine is not too bad. Starts very easily if you use the primer and the correct fuel/oil mix.
Cannot give a comparative rate since have little experience of using vey many. It's better than the Alko I used to have. | | John W | 06/06/2003 08:50:25 |
