Ian Rogers Retires Ian Rogers has retired
from competitive chess after over 20 years as Australia's number one player.
His last event was the Lidums Checkmate Open which he won by defeating IM
Andras Toth in the final round. He didn't want to retire and is in reasonable
health but multiple doctors told him that due to the stress of playing and its
affect on blood pressure if he didn't give up chess immediately and
permanently, he would be on a dialysis machine within a few years.
