ChessBattles Group
Description: This group is reserved for members of ChessBattles. See \"help chessbattles\\\" for more information.
Operator: Picapiedra
Channel: 330
From July 8 through to August 26, every Friday at 15:00 server time,
there will be a ChessBattles tournament. Each tournament will have
seven rounds and a time control of 5 1, Swiss pairings. The first
tournament on July 8 will start at 17:00 as an exception.
The tournament is sponsored by ICC member Darko Pastor, handle
"picapiedra". He funded a prize pool of USD 725, which will be
distributed as follows:
The player to score most points throughout the whole series of
Friday tournaments will receive USD 500. Second and third in that
series will receive USD 150 and USD 75, respectively. In order to
win a prize, it might be necessary to show every Friday and play!
Standings in the prize series can be checked with the following
command:
tell pear ser b chessbattles
In case of a tie in points in the series, prizes are split between
tied players.
JOINING:
In order to take part in the series, a player must be a paid or
exempt ICC member and a member of the group ChessBattles. To join
that group, type
g-join ChessBattles
and wait on the operator Picapiedra to add you. Whether or not
you are added is determined by Picapiedra, not by ICC, as this
is a private tournament and ICC is just letting the organizers
use their software to facilitate the task.
When you are in that group, you will receive ICC messages about
the tournament. Please read those. Before the starting time, you
need to type
tell pear join
or use the link in the event list. This will be possible from
approximately 15 minutes before the start. Latejoining is allowed
until round 4, but you will not receive bye points for missed rounds.
RULES:
Blitzin 2.31 or higher must be used in the event. All general rules
on ICC apply. Specifically, use of computer chess engines and
databases while playing is strictly prohibited. Assistance from
other players is also prohibited.
The tournament is run using the automated tournament bot "pear", and
there will be a tournament manager, either from the ICC Tomato team
of managers, or from the tournament organizers. If you are not familiar
with Tomato-type tournaments on ICC, please read "help Tomato".
During the tournament, please pay attention to the tells you receive
from the tournament bot pear and the manager.
The ICC tournament directors and the private organizers of the series
may at their discretion make a ruling on a particular game, eject a
player from a tournament, refuse to allow a player to join a tournament,
for any reason including but not limited to: failure to show up on time
or to start a game on time, concern that the player's internet connection
is not reliable enough for the game to finish in a timely manner,
suspicion of chess computer use, suspicion that a player is receiving
assistance, or the fact that this player has been caught violating ICC
rules in the past.
In case a player is ejected from a tournament of the series, the
tournament directors or the organizers can decide to decline any prize
he would have won in the series. In case a player is disqualified from
the tournament, the ICC tournament directors can, at their discretion,
rule that the game of that player in the running round is lost for him,
and won for his opponent. However, results by that player in prior
rounds will not be reverted. Edit this page (operators only)
