The lock knob (the little chrome one "inside" the left handwheel) for the tilt adjustment won't lock the handwheel in position no matter how hard I tighten it.. The height lock know works fine and I removed the knob from each a swapped them - thinking it was a bent stem on the left one - but it does not seem to have anything to do with the knob as it still has the same problem on the same wheel. This seems like it should be simple to solve, but I really don't ant to remove the whole worm shaft - any suggestions or ideas why this is happening? It had a similar problem (along with others). This is what I've learned from the experience and the local Delta repair guru... The shaft is locked by two bronze(I think) bullets that press against the inside of the bushing that the shaft rides in. The "~flat" ends of the bullets push on the bushing and the "nose" of the two bullets point at each other and nearly meet inside the shaft. Your problem is most likely due to: 1) Bullets are worn out. Have to pull shaft to fix this. One of mine was actually missing. Not sure how that happened. 2) Sometimes the bullets actually wear a groove in the bushing due to the thing being adjusted with pressure left on the lock. I believe this is much more common for one of the adjustments than the other. I think it's the height adjust- where the bullets may ride on a casting rather than on the inside of the bushing itself. 3) On the newer models I think there is a smaller bullet that goes between the lock adjust shaft and the pair of lock bullets. In this case the lock adjust shaft is shorter. If the small bullet is missing then it may not lock. One of mine had a small bullet in it- an attempt to fix the shaft with the missing lock bullet. This is easy to fix. The height adjust shaft can be removed by without tearing everything apart. I don't believe that the tilt adjust can be removed without getting pretty involved. = | | _________ | | ---------------------------------------(B)---------------- | ===================================> [ C) | | ---------------------------------------(B)---------------- | | --------- = Bushing Knob B = Lock Bullets C = Smaller bullet used on newer Unisaws (lock shaft is shorter in this case) Will cross-examine guru further when I pick up parts next. mark ------------------------------------------------------------------- My own opinions and mistakes -----------------------------227952432129898--
