I started playing chess in 1970 and took up correspondence chess in 1980. I started in USCF postal and moved to ICCF events a few years later. The (slow) pace of international correspondence chess and research requirements of it have suited my style of play well. In recent times, I play over-the-board chess only once or twice a year and am a USCF expert (2100) in that arena.

I played first board for the U.S. correspondence chess team in the Sixth Pan-American Championships in 1994-96. The U.S. team won this tournament; the first time an American team had won an international nation vs. nation team event.

I earned the IM title in 1999 and in 2000 I was the first American to receive the Senior International Master (SIM) title. This happened at the 2000 ICCF Congress in Daytona Beach, Florida. After 20 years of international play, I have retired from competition.

I wrote a correspondence chess newletter (Win, Lose, or Draw) for several years which had a small following.

I now concentrate on my family (wife and two daughters) and my job as an electrical engineer at a software company in Atlanta, Georgia.
