Waltham Chess Club

01/27/02

When: Friday nights, 7:00 PM until midnight

Where: the cafeteria of the 404 Wyman Street offices in Waltham

Why: The Waltham Chess Club provides an opportunity to improve your game in a pleasant, friendly environment. We host a mix of casual nights along with both fun and serious tournaments. Our goal is to have players enjoy themselves.

What you will find: Our 50 members are players of varying strengths, from beginner to master. Some come only for tournaments, others come every week. We analyze games, play for fun, and try to solve chess problems. There is no better way to improve your skills than by playing against stronger players.

Events: The Waltham Chess Club sponsors tournaments throughout the year. Some nationally rated, others non-rated. We also sponsor scholastic tournaments to promote chess.

Membership: Memberships fees are due February 1st. They are: $15 for adults and $5 for those under 18 or over 65. Adults joining after June 30th may purchase a half-year membership for $10. College students may purchase single-semester memberships for $5 each (Spring, Summer, or Fall).

Affiliates: The Waltham Chess Club is affiliated with both the United States Chess Federation and the Massachusetts Chess Association.
