Privacy or Anonymity?
Internet is the place to be. No doubt about that. And when we're talking e-mail based chess, Chess World is one of the places to be on the Internet! We are serious about that. For a casual game here at Chess World or for a real tournament at Playchess.

A real tournament is a serious business, as you will understand. That's why we asked our contributor, TPM (Tacky Patzer Master) Jeroen van Dorp to cover some serious subjects for us.

He started with "How to cheat on Internet" and gave some invaluable guidelines. Now he examines the subject of being an anonymous chess player online in our tournament section. In this new contribution he tells you why roaming the Internet Chess Servers can be so rewarding.

Beware: this contribution is not for serious players!

New Chess Tournament Site
www.playchess.de Do you like the casual chess games in our "Play Online" section? But you would like to play more than just a casual game every now and then?

Great. The new site www.playchess.de offers email chess tournaments the "ChessWorld style". You play rated tournaments (5, 7 or 9 players) with opponents of roughly your strength. The playing method is nearly identical to that of ChessWorld (no coincidence).

Register there and play your first tournament within minutes. All you have to do is play chess. The handling of all the "technical details", like move notification, time control, rating calculation is done by the PlayChess system.

Chess Coaching at ChessWise - 10% Discount

ChessWise University: GM Ashley and GM Rohde

Let a dream come true: getting private lessons from a real chess grandmaster. This is by far the most effective way to improve your play.

That's unaffordable - I hear you say. But our partner, ChessWise University Online, offers classes for chess players of any strength starting at about 50$ (US) for six months. ChessWise is one of the leading chess coaching sites.

We convinced them to increase their discount for ChessWorld visitors to 10% on all courses they offer. This may save you up to 30 dollars! See further details on our Coaching Page.

To boldly cheat where no one has cheated before ...

Chess and the Internet, a wonderful combination. Always an opponent. There is no need to drag your neighbour inside when he's sneaking past your window, taking the dog for a walk. There's no need to go to the local chess club and see that ugly opponent of yours in real - yuck, does he only wear one t-shirt all year long? Is that his deodorant or a dead skunk?

No Sir, forget it. Just sit in front of your computer, login to one of the many (often free) chess servers and play. Play blitz, play a nice standard game, or play a correspondence game, here, on Chess World for instance.

But most of all: cheat! Use your computer. Why use your own brains?

 Play Online

Do you like to play against human chess players? You do not like the complicated handling of email chess or even conventional correspondence chess?

Visit our new section Online Play and find opponents for a casual game.

We now offer some game rooms with thematic games. There you may practice your opening repertoire with other players. Currently we offer: King's Gambit, Wolga-Benkö-Gambit and the Sicilian with 2.c3. Further openings will be added on request of our visitors.

 Chess Contest

We published some new problems provided by our senior partner Sasha Goldshtein. This "senior" partner is a very talented 15 year old young man from Israel. His problems are of excellent quality.

Everybody is invited to participate in this contest - it's free. Your ratings in five disciplines are calculated from your performance in this test. Even World Champion Khalifman and some of his collegues from St. Petersburg participate in our chess contest.

 Chess Books

We extended and re-designed our chess bookshop. Now we offer more than 200 books and other chess equipment (software, boards). Nearly all items are extensively reviewed. Most items can be ordered at each of the three Amazon shops (US, UK and Germany).

 Chess Newsgroups

We created an experimental web interface to the chess news groups. On these pages you see the most interesting chess news from the usenet (rec.games.chess.*). Your critique on these pages might help us to construct something really useful for all chess players. Please visit these pages and give us some feedback!

 ChessWorld Partnership

Do you want to supplement your chess site with questions and problems of the ChessWorld type? Confront your visitors with chess problems that you designed?

Barnet Chess Club

Visit the site of our first senior partner Barnet Chess Club! BCC offers a thematic contest: all problems are taken from the games of Garri Kasparov. This site is a MUST SEE for every fan of the ChessWorld problems ... or the world champion.

The ChessWorld partnership program offers these possibilities. All you have to to is to specify the properties of your problem pages. The new problem pages are then generated automatically. Your new problem site might be online within minutes!

There are no obligations involved and no technical prerequisites required. You may try out our partnership offer immediately and see your problem pages up and running within minutes. Or visit some of our partners to get a feeling for the possibilities.

Our senior partners get some free promotion here on the "mother site": For every 10 problems a senior partner creates and publishes he will get 1000 "banner impressions" on the ChessWorld pages. The banner of our partners will be seen by 1000 visitors of ChessWorld for only 10 self-designed problems!

Having been in time trouble while blundering is no more justification than the claim of a law breaker that he was drunk when he commited the crime.

Make Money with Your Chess Site?

You would like to make some money out of your hobby, don't you? But you think this is not possible with a small site like yours.

That's what I thought, too - until I read the incredible book of Ken Evoy Make Your Site Sell. Now, I know that I can get something in return for all the work put into my site - and Ken showed me HOW! If you would like to earn money with something you really like to do (building and improving your chess site), you should read his book. Try out the free download of two chapters of the book.
