China and India are growing in importance; Chinese women are particularly strong.  However, Russia is still enormously powerful.

Don't forget the Ukraine and Armenia, both of which have produced dozens of GMs and IMs in the last few years.

Why russia? Because they have the most GM and IM. And i think they have a lots of trainers too, so if u have trainers, good players from witch to learn the people will become involved in chess.
