The 64th annual Corus chess festival is taking place in Wijk Aan Zee, Holland between the dates of 11-27 of January. There is a main event with the participation of 10 of the world's top 20 players and other invitees, a GM B group with GM's and IM's playing (the strongest field ever this year) and many other tournaments such as quads by ratings, 10 player groups also divided by ratings, a tournament for journalists, a tournament for parliamentarians and ex parliamentarians and a speed event. The festival that started a bit on the left foot with some unforeseen withdrawals, got a strong boost with the announcement by the Corus people of at least 3 more years of sponsoring the festival. Since last year, the big question was "will there be a 65th event?" that piece of news came as great joy to the chess fans and players. ICC will cover the main event live over the server with GM commentary and will carry a post round report with photos from within the press room of the event.
