To assist those affected by recent flooding in Southeast Kansas, Amazon.com donated more than 10 pallets of household goods to the American Red Cross. Trucks containing diapers, shampoo, laundry detergent and other essentials from Amazon.com were sent to local Red Cross shelters in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Amazon.com customers donated more than $12.5 million to the American Red Cross to provide disaster relief to those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Amazon also donated tens of thousands of packages of relief supplies to the Salvation Army in Jackson, Mississippi.

Amazon customers have selected DonorsChoose as the winner of the 2005 Amazon.com Nonprofit Innovation Award. This award, created in partnership with the Stanford Graduate School of Business Center for Social Innovation, recognized and rewarded nonprofits whose innovative approaches and breakthrough solutions most effectively improved their communities or the world at large.

Amazon customers were encouraged to support the 10 finalist organizations by making online donations, and DonorsChoose generated more than $790,000--the most of all the finalists.
