With the upcoming Book 12: The Ashen Wastes, comes a revamp of the entire Angmar region.

MadeOfLions, one of the developers for Lord of the Rings Online, stopped by the official forums, and gave a complete list of the quests that will be 'versioned':

If any of these quests are *currently underway* in your quest log, you should aim to finish them before the update goes live; once it does, these quests will be removed from your quest log and you will need to start the quests over at the bestower. If you have already *finished* these quests, there will be no impact on your quest log.

Last week, SOE and Flying Lab Software hosted a run-through of the Beta with the press. Matt Lowery was on hand and offered up a complete report.

To go with it, we also have a treasure trove of screenshots and video from the Beta.

We then hopped in our ships and headed out on the open seas for what is at the heart of this game. Ship combat! We had level 15 ships as we headed out on the open seas, where we quickly came across a ship well over level 40. What was cool about ship combat in the game is that level does not equal victory. In PotBS, a cannon ball does X amount of damage, it doesn't matter if you are level 5 or 50. The same damage is done from a cannon. Sure there are plenty advantages to being higher level, skills that allow you to fire faster, or turn quicker, but a player that really knows what he is doing, has a real chance of beating a ship far above his level. This was refreshing to see, especially in a game where PvP areas can open up around you, it is nice knowing that when that high level player starts chasing you, it doesn't mean you are dead.

EA Mythic has recently announced that Robert Mull is now the Community Relations Director. He now oversees Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot, and Warhammer Online.

Greetings All,

I'm Robert Mull, the new Community Relations Director for EA Mythic. I oversee the work our team of Community Coordinators do for Warhammer Online (James Nichols), Dark Age of Camelot (Missy Hatch and Joanne Laroche) and Ultima Online (Jeremy Dalberg). They are a great team and I am lucky to have inherited them.

As a gamer who got his start in MMOs with the Ultima Online beta, being allowed to support the same community that made that game so enjoyable to me is a real pleasure and I feel like I have come full circle. Since then a decade has passed and I have played countless MMOs. A few of these became part of my daily routine for years as I worked to found guilds, build cities, run player-events, engage in pvp conflicts, roleplay, and be an active member of the gaming community. While the games have changed over the years, the real draw for me has always been the people. A strong well-supported community makes good games great.

Age of Conan's "Postcards from Beta #2" is released, continuing deep in our Hyborian adventure, meeting the locals and enjoying their unique architecture, which are featured in four new screenshots:

In this installment, I got some levels behind me and set about exploring the world as a rough, tough, confident man in a silly mask as opposed to a fresh-off-the-beach nooblet in a silly mask.

I must admit, I'm not much of an explorer type-my Bartle usually buries the needle somewhere in 'Killer' with 'Killer' as my secondary-but I keep finding interesting things just around the corner...

This weeks Friday Update consists of a few shots from the current build in General Beta along with some commentary.

Part of what I like about Age of Conan is how much you actually feel like a shipwreck survivor grabbing whatever you can to stay alive. You'll notice that the outfit I'm wearing in the various screenshots is rather motley, like I'm just grabbing whatever is worth salvaging after crushing my enemies, driving them before me, and hearing the lamentations of the women. This is because that is precisely the case. This is a low-level character trying to make his way the only way he knows how, so his outfit is made up of whatever I could scrounge along the way.
