Anarchy Online's official forum released yet another letter this month from Game Director Craig 'Silirrion' Morrison, who talked about the next set of updates, which will implement a multitude of exciting features, like social clothing mode, new team instances, powerful nanos, revamped PvP title system and more:

As 17.7 gets closer to being ready for the live dimensions I thought it was a good time to give you all another little insight into where we are at with Anarchy Online.

The coming game update includes quite a lot of stuff that we are all quite excited to see released to the live dimensions. Having spent quite some time now (well over a year in fact when I think about!) working on content with a focus on the Shadowlands it has been great to be able to look at Rubi-Ka again as we work through the new quest lines.

Getting to add some reasons to get people out an exploring the original game world is a fantastic feeling, and not just because it's a great nostalgia trip for me! It was great seeing the designers and artists adding a little more life to some of the areas I remembered frequenting in the days around launch and sending people to some of the 'old haunts'...

Gamasutra reported today about Icarus Studios' collaboration with GNi Games for hosting services, in which Fallen Earth will be the first MMO to benefit from this next year:

Icarus Studios has announced that it has entered into a long term partnership agreement with GNi Games and Digital Media, which will combine GNI's "pay-as-you-grow" infrastructure services with Icarus' resources for the design, creation, and deployment of online initiatives...

The first result of this partnership will be hosting the upcoming MMOG Fallen Earth, set on a post-apocalyptic Earth in the year 2154. GNi will provide infrastructure through beta testing phases and to the commercial release. Neither the beta test dates nor the commercial release date have yet been announced.

The recent rumor on MMORPG.com forums about a soon-to-happen sale of Fallen Earth, LLC to an unnamed entity is untrue. Lead Game Designer Lee Hammock posted today on the official forums the following statement:

Hey all,
Sorry for not getting on this sooner; a good part of the company was out at the Virtual Worlds conference in San Jose and so missed this post until today. Anyway, this rumor of FE being sold is not true in any way, shape, or form to the best of my knowledge (and I'm the Lead Game Designer so I tend to know these things). No idea what this guy on mmorpg.com is talking about; maybe Flora's theory about looking for a publisher is correct. In any case, we're moving ahead as well as ever if not better with no intention to sell.
Unless of course Generalissmo Pouches completes his diabolical plan, overthrows all the current management with his desktop mounted nerf cannon.

So there you have it folks!

Funcom has taken a step towards internalization of the "secondary market" with the announcement that Anarchy Online now supports virtual item sales on all servers. Players can buy "points" (100 points = 1 USD) and then redeem those for items within the game. For example, in their press release, they cite a new hover-board for 300 points (3 dollars).
