EQ2's official site has been updated with the monthly producer newsletter. This time, Clint "Jourdian" Worley, senior producer, has taken on the task of giving the wrap up for 2007 and a peek at 2008:

The EverQuest team is already hard at work on the next expansion. We plan to have a longer Beta cycle once again to ensure that we deliver a quality product that is fun to play. More information about the expansion will be announced later in the year.

One of the goals that the EQ Dev team has is to refocus on the Live content that we give to the players. Many of you work on chewing through the expansion content and then you are left either wanting more or diving into AA advancement while you wait for the next major release. We are focusing on providing Live content on a monthly basis that you will be able to enjoy throughout the year. We hope to see everyone take part in these events and we are open to trying new and exciting things, so your feedback is welcome.

It's a good read so be sure to check it out.

The official EQ2 site has been updated with a letter from producer Bruce Ferguson. Discussing the imminent release of update 42, here's a portion of the letter:

1) We have the deities returning with renewed strength, and additional members...The Tribunal, Karana, and Bertoxxolous. You will find these encounters even more challenging than ever!

2) Also coming in this update are the new mannequins, which will allow you to show off your armor and weapons inside your house. If you're anxious to get one of these, be sure to touch base with your local crafting expert, who will be filling orders soon.

3) Searching for items that you care about on the broker will become much easier, as we have implemented the ability to search for items by the effect name on the item.

4) We've added a new Pet Options window to allow you to set your pet name, hide status and how they'll act around you.

5) While we can't control the entire internet yet, we can show you what may be happening between your computer and ours, with a new Connections Stats window to show you your ping, bytes per second, frames per second, and packet loss.

6) Oh, and someone mentioned epics. I think there are some epic quests in this update.

There's more so go over and take a look.

Massively.com reports on a scandal involving SOE's EverQuest 2. According to them, developers have apparently broken policy and allowed for a Test Server guild to be transferred to a Live server. They present quite a bit of evidence to back this claim up, including an admission from a SOE official. The excuse? Rewarding the Test Server players for their hard work.

Some cliffs notes on the situation:

* SOE employee(s) abused their power breaking various codes of ethics (confirmed & guilty)
* Numerous Test players accuse Unhallowed Triad with a history of exploitation and getting away with it in due part to their SOE connection (rumors)
* Someone at SOE made the call to transfer Test characters to a Live server breaking policy (confirmed & guilty)
* Not only were characters transferred to Unrest, but items as well. Unhallowed Triad's Guild level was also inflated to 60. (confirmed & guilty)
* Many Unhallowed Triad guild members admitted to transferring off test in Assassin's chat (confirmed)
* Several Unhallowed Triad guild members were transferred unknowingly (more than likely)
* Legitimately leveled characters belonging to several Unhallowed Triad members were transferred over from other servers or already leveled on the Unrest server (confirmed)
* Unhallowed Triad guild tag no longer exists but there other guild tag Unholy Trinity exists and their Guild level stands at 30 (confirmed)
* All players on the Test server have not been given the same opportunity to transfer to a Live server
