Guide Review - DGT Easy Plus Game Timer (Digital Chess Clock)

These days it seems like everyone who plays chess with a clock either has a digital model or wants to upgrade to one. Since a clock can easily be the most expensive piece of chess equipment that a player owns, it makes sense to look at budget models. The 'Easy Plus' clock falls in our price range for budget models. • The basic 'Game timer' option is equivalent to an analog clock; it can be started with a certain number of minutes for each player for the entire game. The clock can be halted during the game and reset for an additional time control the way an analog clock can, by noting the time remaining and adding more time for each player. The bonus and delay times allow Fischer and Bronstein timing methods. The display shows 'H:MM' for 20 minutes or more; 'MM.SS' for less than 20 minutes; the punctuation (':' or '.') and 'H/M' or 'M/S' on the display indicate which is active. • Recommended for home or casual use. The clock's single time period comes up short for anything but the most basic tournament time controls (blitz or rapidplay, for example).
