NCsoft today announced new Account Services and a Referral Programs for players of Lineage II. Players will finally be able to get that sex change for their favorite character and join friends on a different server:

New Account Services with transaction fees are available to all Lineage II players: Name Change, Gender Change and Character Server Transfer. Name and Gender change services have gone live today. Character Server Transfer service will be live in a few weeks. These new account features are our promise to exemplify our commitment to improve the Lineage experience.

WarCry has learned that Star Trek Online and its content have been transferred to another studio and that P2 Entertainment (formerly Perpetual Entertainment) will refocus its business on casual games and their Perpetual Platform MMO solution.

As a company, P2 Entertainment will continue on with their profitable Perpetual Platform, which has been licensed to industry leaders like BioWare, and refocus their core business on the casual games market.

In this week's discussion, we want to ask about the path the online game genre has taken and where you would like to see it head in 2008 and beyond.

The meaning of the word "virtual world" has changed over the last few years. It used to describe an MMORPG that had a less directed experience, while now it has come to be something not exactly a video game, like Second Life. In 2008, would you like to see a return to virtual world games, like EVE Online and Ultima Online or are you happy with the current direction the two split genres have taken?

Kohnke VP Sean Kauppinen

In their complaint against Perpetual Entertainment, Kohnke Communications wrote that they had success "in convincing reviewers to write positive reviews about the game". It is a sensitive time, especially considering the recent controversies that surround x-Gamespot Editor Jeff Gerstmann and a pair of stories on GamePro and 1Up raised the issue.

WarCry contacted Kohnke Communications and P2 Entertainment for their responses to those two stories.
