The birthmark on Elora Danan's arm signified that she is the child of prophecy, the daughter of the Sun and Moon, and future empress of all kingdoms. Indeed, Tir Asleen, Galladoorn, Nockmaar and Cashmere all have legends, oracles and divinations that foretold of a powerful child who will appear and unite and govern them.

Knowing of the prophecy, Queen Bavmorda ordered the capture of pregnant women throughout her domain. These expectant mothers were penned in the Nockmaar dungeons and tended to by midwives.

Elora Danan's mother is lost to history. Giving birth to Elora while imprisoned, this doomed woman was aided by a compassionate midwife named Ethna. Ethna stole away with baby Elora, avoiding Bavmorda's guards and Death Dogs. When the deception was discovered, Bavmorda ordered the mother killed and Ethna hunted down.

The ravenous Death Dogs eventually tracked down Ethna after weeks of hunting, but she was able to cast Elora down the River Freen on a makeshift raft.

Miraculously, Elora survived the journey down the river to arrive safely on the banks of Ufgood Reach, where she was taken in by Willow Ufgood and his family. The Nelwyns took care of the Daikini child, but when Death Dogs raided a Nelwyn festival, Willow knew the child needed to be taken before the village elders.

The High Aldwin recognized in Elora great potential, though he was not sensitive enough to hear her "voice" through the Force. The Aldwin tasked Willow to take the child beyond the reaches of the valley, to the Daikini crossroads where a new guardian would watch over her. Unbeknownst to Willow at the time was that Elora had chosen him as her guardian.

Willow first attempted to give the child to Madmartigan, a rogue swordsman who quickly lost the child to thieving Brownies. The Brownies reunited Willow with Elora, and brought both of them before Cherlindrea the High Fey, who explained the prophecy. Willow was tasked with bringing the child to Tir Asleen, and recruiting the sorceress Fin Raziel in the cause.

Tir Asleen was found to be cursed by Bavmorda, and her soldiers eventually captured Elora. The infant was taken to Bavmorda's citadel, where the dark queen began a series of incantations to exile the child's spirit into oblivion. Willow and Fin Raziel interrupted the ceremony, and Willow duped Bavmorda into thinking he had cast Elora into a dimension the Queen could not reach.

The Queen's momentary shock at Willow's slight-of-hand distracted her from the growing Force storm she was summoning, and Bavmorda was consumed by her own uncontrollable powers. Her dark reign came to an end, and Elora was reunited with Willow.

The curse was lifted off Tir Asleen, and Elora was cared for by rejuvenated leaders of the spectacular city. Willow failed to visit her after that, even though he had pledged to be her protector. Over a year later, Tir Asleen was utterly consumed by a tremendous blast, part of a Cataclysm that destroyed Force-strong locations across Andowyne. For over a decade, Willow wandered the world searching for clues behind the devastation.

Twelve years later, he found Elora alive in the land of Angwyn, on the other side of the world. She had been revered as a Sacred Princess, and had grown to become a temperamental spoiled teenager. Willow, now traveling under the name of Thorn Drumheller, was distressed to find evidence of the dark side surrounding young Elora.
