Marin Theatre Company (MTC) is proud to present Tennessee Williams' classic masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire like you¹ve never seen it before - a powerful interpretation full of intense emotion and sexuality!

SPECIAL FOR SF WEEKLY READERS - On Wed, April 9, join us for Young Professional's Night and save $5 per ticket. And all drinks are 1/2 off before the show (this performance only). Mention "SF Weekly" for this special offer (available through the box office only 415.388.5208).

Streetcar is about a torrid romantic triangle set in 1940's New Orleans. The immortal, fragile Southern belle Blanche DuBois arrives at her sister Stella¹s French Quarter's row house. Here she encounters the sensual, sweat-stained Stanley Kowalski. Passions erupt and lives hang in the balance when genteel southern culture collides with frustrated, roiling urban desire.

MTC, the North Bay¹s premiere professional theatre company, is located just ten minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Mill Valley. Visit the MTC website for more info at www.marintheatre.org.

  • Kilimanjaro & Walking in the Serengeti! Kilimanjaro & Walking in the Serengeti!
    The North Face [Map]
    Wed., April 16, 8:00pm

Here's your chance to learn more about the "roof of Africa" (and one of the "seven summits!") via the Western Breach route, an expedition that was the feature of the IMAX film The Roof of Africa, as well as a classic Tanzanian safari, which includes a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Crowned by eternal snows, Kilimanjaro is an overwhelming presence on the African landscape (it's no wonder the local people call it the "home of God"). To climb its slopes and stand on the crest of Africa is a dream of every adventurer. Wes will also highlight Mountain Travel Sobek’s new upcoming safari programs in Tanzania, including our three-day walking safari in the legendary Serengeti plains—just recently allowed—giving you the chance to experience the real Africa, to revel in the smaller sights, smells, and feelings that are missed from a vehicle.

Wes Krause is Mountain Travel Sobek’s Tanzania Field Director and has lived there since the 1980s. His love of the outdoors began in the 1970s in the rock and ice climbing community of the Western United States. He eventually moved his focus to high-altitude climbing in Alaska, where he summited Denali (Mount McKinley) by three different routes and made numerous high-altitude first ascents, including the difficult West Face of Mount Sanford. In the '80s and '90s, Wes made several ascents in the Himalayas, including Baruntse, Vihara Sikar, and Peak Communism, and was Climbing Leader of the 1987 American Everest North Face Expedition. Wes moved to East Africa in the early '80s and was the Director of the NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) in Kenya for several years. During this time, he and Scott Fischer made one of the early ascents of Mount Kenya's Diamond Couloir and the second successful climb of the Breach Icicle on Kilimanjaro. Wes’s immense regard for the outdoors is also reflected in his comprehensive experience with walking safaris. The Serengeti, famous for its vast plains and diverse wildlife, just recently allowed walking safaris in their protected wilderness area. Come join Wes as he shares his tales from the bush and highlights his upcoming Tanzania safari programs. Wes is a master storyteller, and you shouldn't miss this opportunity to meet him! Wes will be accompanied by two of his Tanzanian guides, James and Bonaventure.
