We're calling these cute animals "Tummy Pets".
The cotton outer body of the animal is filled with acrylic and rice. If you put the animal in the microwave for a very
short period of time, you can use it as a cute heating pad. A responsible adult should always carefully check the temperature
prior to giving it to a child.
Velcro on the bottom of the animal enables washing of the cotton body and acrylic inside.
The uncooked rice is separate, in a bag.
As always, a responsible adult should supervise children at all times.
The organization coordinating this work provides services to thousands of people in and near La Esperanze,
including dental and medical clinics, a laboratory, pharmacy, a daycare and nutrition center, an alternative learning
center. They've also just opened a school for children in grades 1 through 6.
