...are finally stepping into the spotlight on their own terms, proving once and for all that while just about anyone can pick up a sword or cast a spell, only a true hero can vanquish evil with the power of ROCK!

Armed with a trusty axe, killer riffs, and a ton of attitude, the guitar-wielding bard is the second hero class to be introduced in the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft. The bard excels both as a solo performer and as part of a solid group lineup, able to front in a number of roles as varied as his musical repertoire.

The results are in!

After donning pith helmets, pitching tents in the parking lot, and hanging mosquito netting to get into the spirit of the safari theme, the judges pored over thousands of submissions and emerged with winning entries in hand. We sifted through a number of well-orchestrated, creative, and sometimes frightening screenshots, but in the end, one grand prize winner, one second-place winner, and three runners-up stood out above the rest. Congratulations to all the winners.

The Taunka has been revealed in the latest update to the Wrath of the Lich King bestiary.

image

This tenacious, stoic race knows all too well the rigors of living in the harsh and often deadly wastes of Northrend. Over time, the taunka - whom many believe to be ancestral cousins of the tauren - have adapted, but only by forcing the land and the elements to yield to their will. The taunka's relationship with nature, unlike that of their tauren brethren, has been one of constant struggle and grim perseverance.

Although the taunka may seem dour or even cold to outsiders, those who come to know them will soon recognize an embattled race of survivors characterized by colossal hearts and unshakable resolve.

Check out the rest of the critters of Northrend at the link above.

The official bestiary guide for Wrath of the Lich King has been updated. The latest addition is the Iron Dwarf, denizen of Northrend:

image

The Explorers' League has scoured the far corners of the world, seeking to uncover the truth behind the origins of the dwarves. Now it seems they may be one step closer to unlocking the secrets of the past.

The latest clues come from ancient dig sites within the Howling Fjord, where the iron dwarves were first encountered. Etched with runes of power - and with lightning pulsing beneath their thick, metallic skin - they may represent the missing link between the dwarves and the legendary titans of myth. Unfortunately the malevolent iron dwarves have openly defied the Explorers' League and seem intent on destroying any and all artifacts connecting them to the shadowed recesses of history.
