So I was in a restaurant last weekend. We were waiting to get seated. There was a woman in front of us with three kids. She was holding one and the other two were running wild in the restaurant. They were probably four or five years old. They would run up to the tables where people were eating, put their dirty little hands on the table and scream. I can't imagine the germs they were getting in those people's food. One of them actually ran up and grabbed my husbands leg. I told it to go away. The mother seemed to think the whole thing was cute, even though I made several comments about people controlling their kids. I found the whole thing to be very rude and uncomfortable for the people trying to enjoy their meal. I don't have kids but if I did they would NOT act that way.

Parents should make their kids behave everywhere, all of the time. You are correct, that is very rude, and would not be allowed from my children. We teach our kids to respect others, and themselves, no matter where they are.

it is real fuckin dumb how people just let their kids run like they control everything. We need to tell kids that they are the young ones and we run it. Yeah i know im just coming out of the kid stage but when i was younger my mother never put up with that behavior

I try not to judge parents, since I am not one, but I just couldn't believe she was letting them get away with all that. I guess parents maybe need to remember, not everyone thinks everything your kids do is cute. Have a little respect for the rest of us.

THERE were many times i would just take my kids home if they acted up and talk to them how really bad that was. (what ever they were doing). It is really hard to control three kids at one time ,but you ca'nt let them run wild in a reataurant where some one is trying to enjoy a meal..The hard part of having kids is you need to be on top of them all the time. there kids. they need to learn right from wrong, which is a hard looooong job. But there your kids and YOUR respondable.(sp)..

My children would NEVER be allowed to run wild like that. I myself have disciplined other peoples children, only to get nasty comments for my troubles. Now, I just tell those morons to keep their kids away from mine.

I have confronted people about this. Predictably, the result isn't favorable. People who let their kids run wild know they're pissing everyone else off, they just don't care and confronting them isn't going to make them come to some magical epiphany. The only thing the rest of us villagers can hope for is something bad befalling the kid, so that the parents learn not to let them run loose (or maybe that's what they want - who knows?). It's a shame when parents let it get to the point that someone would wish something bad happen, but what else are we to do?

My children are very well behaved. If they act up in public, they know that when they get home, there will be no playtime, no tv..nothing.

I can't stand it when I go out somewhere and kids are running amuck and their parents are just doing what they want. I was out shopping over the weekend for baby clothes which is located right by toys and these hispanic women had 5 kids with them. They were running around in between the clothes with this toy that sounded like a foghorn. They kept coming up to me and playing that annoying thing. 1st time, it was cute...2nd time it was annoying and one of them even had the nerve to take clothes away from me as I was pulling it off the rack. Pissed off and annoyed, I went up to these women and told her to control her kids. They look at me, roll their eyes and tell me to calm down and stop being a b*tch. They're kids and they are just having fun. I gave them a piece of my mind after that and told the store manager, who gave them a warning. They didn't listen and were kicked out of the store.

Kids running around and being annoying is one of my biggest pet peeves. I am the mother of a 14 year old teen boy. I may be a tough mom but my son is respectful and decent. I get many comments on that! I do have a smaller nephew who is a terror, so much so that I refuse to go to ANY restaurant or any type of shopping environment with him AT ALL! I am totally embarrassed that someone may think he is my son and I am letting him be out of control. Parents need to take a little responsibility for their kids and start teaching them a little respect!

Nope, just let them run wild.

We don't want Social Services, or the courts, after us for disciplining our kids.

But if we don't discipling them, we're bad parents too.

You can't win.

Social Services (Child Protective Services) needs a spanking.

I think kids need to be taught what is appropriate behaviour in public, if they can't yet know the difference between for instance, Chuckie Cheese and that nice Italian place with white tablecloths, then stay home. In public, children should be seen and not heard - unless it's a playground.

I have memories of going out for dinner with my parents when I was a kid. I have 3 siblings. There were many times that people would come up to our table and compliment my parents on how well-behaved we were. I passed that on to my girls. The only restaurant kids should run around and be wild is Chuckie Cheese.

lol, I agree with you and am the same way - Also get "accused" of being a tough mom. What's with that??? When did teaching respectful and appropriate behaviour become not the norm?

I work with a man named Ray, he had his grand kids at Wally world. Ray is a farm boy grown-up, whom is big enough to carry a steer under each arm. One of his grand kids acts up, Ray warns him to stop, he continues. Ray paddles his behind in Wally world. A woman comes around the corner and says: You can't spank children!! Ray's responce You want a spanking too lady! His children, and grandchildren are well behaved, and nice to be around. This world fails to teach respect.

Kid should be remanded before they leave if you act up we will go home! And actually do it! I never had to say that but once, grant it children are way to smart now to say they are being a kid or that is cute and if your child is hollering or bawlin pleeze take him or her to the bathroom or out side I like the signs posted if you cannot make your child behave then we will ask you to leave!

I was at walmart last week with my finance and saw a great example of a crappy parent. There was a woman with a newborn in his carrier in the cart she had 2 friends with her. The poor little boy was screaming and screaming and screaming. All this woman would have had to do was pick him up for a minute. One of her friends could have pushed the cart. She proceeded to push the cart yelling to her friends over his screaming for 45 Mins.

When she got up to the checkout she FINALLY picked the poor kid up and he shut up instantly. I walked over and told her: Babies that young don't scream like that for no reason, He's hungry, dirty or wants to be held. She says to me: Oh he justs wants attention and is having a tantrum.(this kid was maybe maybe a month old) I told her she didn't have a clue what a temper tantrum was and newborns sure as hell don't have them and walked away.
