A KAMAZ driver was found guilty over a car accident in Uyarsky District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, where Alexander Kuznetsov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly, and top managers of SIBENCO (Siberian Coal Energy Company) died.
As Victor Stepanov, a barrister of the injured party, reported to KNews, the verdict was passed by Uyarsky District Court on March 28.
According to the version of the investigation, the KAMAZ drove onto the oncoming lane while overtaking and collided with an Audi owned by OJSC Rarzrezugol at the 918th km of Baikal Highway, near the village of Maryevka not far from Uyar. All the passengers and the driver of the foreign-made car died.
KAMAZ driver Erik Sadreyev was found guilty of the violation of the rules for traffic safety entailing by negligence the death of two or more persons (Article 264 Part 3 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code). He was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months' imprisonment in a settlement colony. No claims for moral or financial damage were brought for the case.
Unless the Council for Prosecution appeals against conviction, the verdict will come into effect in ten days after it was passed. "We are totally satisfied with the verdict, we will not appeal against conviction," Victor Stepanov noted.
It is worth reminding that Alexander Kuznetsov, a deputy of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Legislative Assembly and the managing director of Krasnoyarsk branch of Siberian Coal Company (SIBENCO), were killed along with three other people in the car accident on November 28.
