A suspect of killing five-year-old Polina Malkova has been accused officially of forcible sexual actions and the murder in Krasnoyarsk on April 1. Olga Shamanskaya, a senior aide of the Investigation Committee of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Prosecutor's Office, reported. The suspect is accused of the rape of another small girl in Kirovsky district of Krasnoyarsk in December 2006.
"Today the suspect has been accused of forcible sexual actions against a small girl. In addition, he has been accused of forcible sexual actions against Polina Malkova, raping and killing her," Shamanskaya said. According to her, this crime shall be punishable by a life sentence. However, the punishment is set by the court. A trial will most probably start in summer 2008, she added.
Polina Malkova went missing from her courtyard on March 19, 2007. In ten days she was found dead in the neighboring district of Krasnoyarsk. A criminal case was opened over the murder of a person known by the killer to be in a helpless state (Article 105 Part 2 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code).
The suspect of the murder of Polina Malkova was detained in Krasnoyarsk on March 24 2008. The arrested man is 35 years old. He had previous convictions for violent sexual actions against an under-aged girl. He spent 12 years in prison and was released pre-term in 2004. He is married and has got no children.
