Two years' construction of Krasnoyarsk sculptural composition "Siberian Rivers" cascade fountain has been completed, the Mayor's Office reported. The last sculpture of an old man symbolyzing the Yenisei River has been installed into the cascade on April 4.
The work at the sculpture of this Siberian river has taken for 4 years. The new sculpture was designed by four people: sculptor Konstantin Zinich and three of his pupils: Victor Moiseyev, Alexey Necheparchuk and Andrey Klonitsyn. The bronze figure is 3 meters high and 800 in weight and has become the biggest one in the composition.
According to the authors of the project, the Old Man reminds an ancient Greek god and is made in antique traditions. There is a stone with animals which live in the Krasnoyarsk Territory depicted on it at the sculpture pedestal. Moreover, the Yenisei has always been considered the biggest and deepest East Siberian river. It is for this reason that is holds a boat in its hands, the symbol of shipping.
Yenisei-Batyushka is the last sculpture, which completes the composition. "It was important for us to make it proportional. We did not know how this figure would be installed, if it should be placed lower or higher and how it would look in the composition, so we left it the last thing," architect Konstantin Zinich said.
The sculpture was moulded in Nizhni Tagil. According to the sculptors, the quality of moulding is better there than in Krasnoyarsk. The sculpture will be emeried and polished with wax, which will help protect it from rain and snow.
The solemn opening ceremony will take place in May when fountain season starts in Krasnoyarsk.
